Speedy Claxton has to play well on the defensive end against Atkins and Billups)
Detroit Pistons:
[*]Dominate the rebounds (Against the Suns, the Pistons won the rebound war and it was a large part in their win) [*]Limit second chance points (The Pistons have had some problems minimizing offensive rebounds and they do not want Dampier to do what he wants on the glass) [*]Contain Nick Van Exel (He is a good player and the Pistons do not want him to pick apart their defense) [*]Play Larry Brown's style of basketball/Spread the ball around (When the Pistons play the style of ball that Brown wants, they are nearly unstopable) [*]Make open shots (When the Pistons play Brown's style of basketball, they get a lot of open shots)
PyroManiac's Prediction The Pistons are winning and the Warriors are losing. Both of their respective streaks will continue. The Pistons are getting a boost from playing at home and are beating teams that usually beat them at the Palace. The crowd will help the Pistons and they will cruise to a win. To win, the Pistons need to win the Hamilton/Richardson matchup but because Hamilton has been excellent recently, I do not see Richardson shutting him down. To have a chance, the GSW need the Pistons to have a bad start, and for them to have an excellent start. Still, Pistons win! Again, we may see Darko tonight! Pistons by 15. The GSW got destroyed by the Wizards, and though they will play with heart, this game will not be close.
Excellent preview I see a 10+ win for the Pistons...Warriors are terrible on the road and have lost to some bad teams lately..they are very inconsistant
Pistons by five. It's important not to underestimate these guys, and they're hungry for a win right now. They've got a lot of players capable of making the Pistons sorry if they ignore them. They are stacked with role players, just like the Pistons. I miss Cliff . Brown, I'm sure, wants to play Darko after giving him all of 17 seconds last night! I'd like to see him play at least five minutes, and I know all the fans would. However, I guess Brown really doesn't care what the fans want, although this is an entertainment business...He makes me mad!
Yeah, I think he knows that Darko is dissapointed that he didn't get to play. Those 17 seconds were the definition of "garbage time". I want him to play for 5 minutes too, I hope we will see him play! I miss Cliff, and Curry. Not as a player but as a leader. I hope he comes back and coaches the Pistons.
Pistons have the advantage in two matchups of the players listed there in my opinion. I think Wallace might overpower Robinson, the shooting differencial is obvious here. Also I think Claxton is better then Atkins. I think it's fair and anyone's game. Good preview by the way.
Looks like I went a little too overboard with my prediction. Warriors have kept the game close and are up 1 at the half.
Well, the Warriors have kept the game close but it has been pretty ugly at times. I'm sure Pistons will pull away in the 3rd quarter. Go Pistons!

Quote:

Detroit Pistons 99 Golden State Warriors 93 Golden State trailed by 14 points with less than five minutes to play, but Jason Richardson had eight points -- including two 3-pointers -- in a 15-0 run that put the Warriors up 91-90 with 1:28 to play. Hamilton put the Pistons back ahead 15 seconds later with two free throws. After Nick Van Exel answered with a jumper, Darvin Ham's three-point play made it 95-93. Van Exel missed at the other end, and Chauncey Billups was fouled on a drive to the basket. The call was originally called a charge before being reversed, and Billups made it a four-point game with the free throws. Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Mehmet Okur and Hamilton had 18 each. Richardson led all scorers with 24. Golden State led 49-48 at the half, with former Pistons Cliff Robinson and Brian Cardinal combining for 21 points.
Recap Box Score All right, Warriors 93 @ Pistons 99. Pistons blew a 15 point lead but were able to come back. Pistons set a record for most consecutive games in a season to hold an opponent under 100 points. Great job by the Pistons! The game was ugly at times, but we came through with a win. Just think, if not for that 15-0 run, the Pistons could have won by 21! Ben did not have a great game, 10 points and only 8 rebounds. I expected him to do better. J-Rich had a great game and almost helped the Warriors pull through at the end. The win streak for the Pistons is now 5 which is now the longest active streak in the league. (With the Spurs losing)
Was very freaky game with loads of odd calls from both sides.First Larry Brown being send to the locker room for two T's but then the refs realise the first T was on Rip and not on Brown.....Billups called for a charge with 12 seconds left..for the refs to later change their minds and give CB two shots which sealed the game. I would be in a bad mood if I was the Warriors Pistons starting to play good team basketball again. Congrats to Larry Brown on his 900th career win.
I'm surprised no one has commented about the masked man, Brian Cardinal hitting a 3-pointer from half court. I bet that mask will become a trend now among players who would otherwise never wear it . If anyone didn't see the game and wants to see this half court shot, you can download on NBA.com, it's on the front page listed as the Play of the Day or just put on NBATV because they've been showing highlights of it all night. Also i'm sure you'll be able to catch it on SportsCenter.
Ok, I love Chauncey and he's one of my favorites, but that was a charge. The refs called it right the first time, and the Pistons got a lucky break. Good job by both teams to play good defense and hold the other guys down. The Pistons followed their pattern of slowing down and allowing the Warriors back in the game, but were able to come back, which says a lot about their leadership.
Hey I was one point away in my prediction. I'm getting good. By the way nice game for the Pistons nice game.
