<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Most fans will watch the Olympic men's basketball competition on television. But those who happen to catch some of the action on the radio will be greeted by a familiar voice. Warriors television play-by-play announcer Bob Fitzgerald will call all U.S. men's basketball games on Westwood One, an affiliate of CBS radio. He also will do play-by-play of all medal round games including the U.S. women's team. It's the second time Fitzgerald has worked an Olympics, but his first calling basketball. He called the swimming and diving competitions at the 1996 games in Atlanta. "It's really an honor," Fitzgerald said. "The Olympics really are a remarkable experience." Fitzgerald has been the television voice of the Warriors since 1997 and before that filled in on Warriors radio broadcasts for four years. He's also the radio voice of the Arena Football League's San Jose SaberCats, and calls an NFL game every Sunday for CBS Radio. August is usually the only month out of the year Fitzgerald has any free time to spend with his wife, Carol, and their three children. He usually goes right from the NFL to the Warriors to the SaberCats, taking him between September and July. But there will be no vacation this year for Fitzgerald. "Usually in August we'll go up to Tahoe and mess around," Fitzgerald said. "But this August dad will be busy doing something else."</div> http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctime...ors/9280251.htm He is one of the best out there.
I am not sure if I met him, but I know for sure I have met Tim Roye and another guy. I cant rememeber his name right now, but I remember his face. His name is on the tip of my tongue. That is cool that we have such good announcers and they are being recognized. No wonder we have such a strong fan base even though our team has been one of the worst basketball franchises in the last 10 years.
Fitzgerald is a youngish guy with dark hair and Barnett is older, about 6-7, with a mustache. Some Warrior fans don't really like Fitzgerald and Barnett because they're so biased in favor of the Warriors, but I love them, Barnett in particular. He wants to see the game played the right way (team first, knowing when to make the extra pass and when to go for early offense) which is the way I like to see the game played as well. I can't remember, is it Rod Brooks and Bob Fitzgerald that do the announcer's voices for NBA live or is it Brooks and Roye?
I didn't know that was Brook's voice on Live. And yes, it is Fitzgerald on there as well. Fitzgerald and Barnett may be biased towards the Warriors but isn't that what you want and expect of the home team anouncers? I love the fact that they love the Warriors so much. Fitzgerald is great because he gets you excited on big plays and over dramatizes at times. For any of you A's fans out there, Barnett reminds me of Ray Fossie. He is very knowledgable of the game and breaks it down so the fans can easily understand.
I thought Brooks and Fitzgerald did the Sega games, such as 2K1 and the likes. But then again I don't think I got the new Live, so maybe he switched games.

Barnett will be the first one to admit seeing a bad call that was in favor of the warriors.

I was at a game early getting autographs and everybody was real nice, except Damp. He didn't say a word to anyone and looked real grumpy. I felt like slapping him accross the face.
Jim Barnett is one of my favorite announcers by far, his analysis is always easily understandable and he's got a lot of basketball knowledge. For some reason though, I'll always remember when I was flipping through the channels and he was some guest announcer for some wrestling show. Very weird stuff. I prefered Greg Papa over Fitzgerald, but that was a long time ago. Fitz is pretty good, but when doing small talk, he tends to recycle Barnett's comments too much.

But he does have a foundation to help underprivileged children, seems pretty nice to me. http://www.erickdampier.org/home.html

One of my friends talked to Dampier this year and he said he was an all right guy. This was out in regular public and not on a warriors public event. Maybe it was because he knew he was having a good year and could finally get the big money and leave the warriors.
