Youngest, Tallest, and Heaviest teams in the league Didn't realize we were that young. We're also among the tallest teams in the league but I'm guessing thats a product of us adding Mags, Turiaf, Randolph, Hendrix, and getting rid of Baron, Pietrus, Barnes, and POB.
That's surprising. I never though we'd be the tallest or the youngest. Then again, we got lots of swingmen, big man prospects like Run said. Plus, our shortest 3 players are like 6'2 or 6'3 which is a good size for a point guard (if assuming the wingspan is above average to any other player in the entire world). I don't mean to go off on a tangent here but heights mean nothing because some dudes don't have very good wingspan and that makes them a bit shorter because basketball players don't play defense or shoot with the tops of their heads. Heights are also exaggerated by some players like Charles Barkley. For Warriors fans, In reality Jrich was only like 6'4 (probably like Dwayne Wade's size), but he had the wingspan of a 6'10-6'11 player with an average wingspan. Anyway, tall team is good. I just wish we had more of a physical presence inside, but maybe this is the year the bigs start showing what they can do. Now for youngest team in the league. Maybe I can believe that a bit because we've been relying on lottery picks quite a bit and no washed up veterans (Thank goodness!). Turiaf, Mags, Harrington, Jackson is a pretty young veteran core. Plus Jackson may be 30 or something, but shooters who can make plays never get old. He might have a long career like Steve Smith or Glen Rice. I kind of want to keep Jackson around just in case we do get a superstar shooting guard or a big man that can get this team a ring. I know Jackson can do better if he's got guys who can draw defenses inward or we got plays that we can execute that cause defenses to shift from side to side rather than in or out.
I think it would be more useful if it only calculated for the starters and let's say first few players off the bench, so top 7-8. If you have a couple waifs or cheesburger addicts down at the end of the bench that's going to skew the results. If you really wanted to get serious about it, you weight each player against his minutes played.
Wow, New Orleans and Orlando are suprises. I also thought Detroit was much older. Heh, Kevin Love and Al Jefferson fat.
If our top 8 rotation guys are Monta (22), Jack (30), Mags (28), Al (28), Beans (22), Azu (24), Marcus Williams (22), Turiaf (25) then the average age of the rotation players is 25.125 years old. If you include one of Wright, Beli, Hendrix, or Randolph into the rotation then you're talking around 24.5 years old.
Can we all agree that the Warriors are not positioned to succeed (even a playoff push) next season? When some of us mentioned that the Warriors were in trouble when Baron left, many people made us sound as though we were being unrealistic. This team may have some exciting moments, but I think it's safe to say, that winning isn't coming for a few years (barring any major moves).
We're definitely not winning in the short term that's for sure. But we have better pieces than we did when it was just Jrich and only Jrich.
