Wright: 5-6 FG Beans: 5-7 FG Jax: 5-12 FG Mags: 6-16 FG Warriors: lose Hmm... how about stop shooting that lazy trash from outside... and start giving the ball to the players who deserve it, who earn it with hustle. Wright + Beans = defense and smarts. Mags + Jax = turnovers and trash. hmm... Warriors are boring to watch as long as Jax + Mags refuse to stop shooting lazy trash and start accepting the fact they are not superstars. NBA = ego and I'm growing bored with it Wright + Beans = Warrior success. How hard is that to understand (or, accept -- yes, accept is probably a better word. Jax + Mags may find it difficult to accept that they are not the keys to Warrior success).
Totally. Antawn Jamison had a field day -- lol -- with Maggette in the post. That was a laugher. 11-20 for 25 points.
I am sick of the small ball. It was palatable when you had a horse like Baron and a thoroughbred like Monta, but now you do not have that but you do have a developing Biedrins and a 2nd year Brandon with a 7'4" wingspan and a beautiful jump hook; you need to change gears.
I agree with the small ball. Is Don Nelson that damn stubborn to still believe small ball works? The reason for small ball is to be quicker than the other team but that doesn't seem to be the case. Maggette was getting burned all game and we couldn't get a single rebound. Biedrins was the tallest player out there that gave a small chance on the boards. Everyone looked sluggish out there and out of place. Also for the some parts of the game why was Jack bringing the ball up? I thought we brought Crawford in to help at the PG situation? As I watched the games he was still throwing telegraph passes which lead to dead plays and absolutely nothing. Anyone else getting tired of Azubuike thinking he is the go to guy? Driving it into triple coverage and still forcing the issue/layup. Never passing or passes when its too late and just throws it out of bounds?? Sorry got to do some venting here because I haven't posted in a long time.
No, because then the warriors won't have anybody who doesn't settle for the 3 in the 4th quarter and get to the foul line. Plus, he's a good rebounder, it's just that Don F-ing Nelson insists on mis-using him. We get rid of Maggette, ol' Don will just substitute another swingman to play power forward like he did with Pietrus and Barnes and Sjax. Biedrins + Wright will help us win more games when they're played together at the same time. They'll both be great off the ball, you don't need to make plays for them, they run the floor, they rebound, they block shots, and you can count on high % points + energy from them. None of this Wright at center crap with only spot minutes here and there. I'm almost willing to book that if I saw more of Wright consistently alongside Biedrins, we'd actually be able to block a shot AND GET THE F-ING REBOUND. Then the other key to taking care of the paint is to start using Rony Turiaf. We pay him this money to be an important role player and just when he's doing his job well, his playing time gets less and less on the account of Nelson getting more outside shooters in his lineup. I hate this goddamn ball where we take away the things I thought this franchise would emphasize so we could get better years down the road. Booooy was I wrong. Nelson is a damn joke when it comes to inheriting certain teams. He ain't the all around coach, he just wants to play his brand of ball, which absolutely sucks because he's taking away possible strengths that this team has with guys like Biedrins, Wright, Turiaf, and Randolph and possibly Richard Hendrix. He's not even being pragmatic at this point. If this goes on for too long and the experimenting phase is over, I would say fire the guy again. Don Nelson is not pragmatic. He's not a genius if he doesn't have all perimeter players and that's what he's trying to make this team into. We can't look to the future with this guy in charge.
I feel ya, I am pissed at the situation right now. The season feels so tainted with how badly the frontcourt and middle positions are used. Because of the terrible substitutions and lineups made at the 4, Biedrins rebounding rate has actually gone down. Everytime he has to go out and help, the last man back isn't big enough to defend or clog up the paint and get the rebound. Wright and Turiaf's seasons will be wasted if we don't use them more. There seldomly used or they are used wrongly IMO.
I agree Wright and Biedrins played together is what will make this team win. Then if we put Sjax and Mags in at SG and SF they wouldn't suck as much anymore. All that would be left is the point guard which I'm sure Crawford could handle a little bit. But man... This is why Nelson sucks so bad at times. He just does not see the obvious... and is not willing to try something different than his tired game that doesn't win championships or develop big players. If we don't develop our big guys or we lose them, this franchise will go back to the stone ages... And we'll piss off every single swingman or forward that has to play center or power forward in Nelson's lineups. That's not what these guys are meant to play. They break down after a while or they can't matchup in the defensive or offensive roles. Okay, I gotta stop. I'm too passionate about warriors ball that I'm getting way too upset over this.
I'm not going to hate on Nellie but I will say that small ball is not working. It's still early in the season and I can only hope the necessary adjustments will happen. I know Azubuike is having a good year and is pretty consistent game to game, but I'd like to see his minutes go down so Marco can play some. He has more play making ability than Buike as his court vision and passing is better. We need someone with good court sense out there!
Custodian, you should call into KNBR when Nellie is on with Tom and Ralph and voice your concerns! I'm serious!
I think that the Morrow experiment is going to have to take a back-seat soon. This is the second game in a row where the Warriors have given up 22 or more offensive rebounds, plus in this game the Wizards were allowed to shoot an extraordinarily high FG%. That is not good. I think Nelson will need to go back to starting Wright, because the defensive glass needs to get secured first and foremost. I am hoping for a Crawford/Jackson/Maggette/Wright/Biedrins starting lineup for next game. Next, Randolph is a turnover machine, which is very consistent with his summer league and preseason performances. Also getting the ball around was going to be very difficult, especially getting good shot selections going after Baron left. I commend Jackson for doing his best, but this team needs a PG. Maybe that is Crawford; he did have like 7 assists, which is pretty good. Defense and rebounds. Those are the two biggies right now for the Warriors. They can shoot whatever they want. But their rebounding has been HORRIBLE. Their defense needs to step it up as well, which is directly related to grabbing that darn rebound. Now is the time to go with two bigs as the starting lineup, or close to it. You gotta get Biedrins in there with Turiaf and Wright a bit more.
Agreed. I do think we have found a decent starting PG in Crawford. I'm a lot more comfortable with him at 1 than anyone else on this team.
I get the feeling the guys who plays some semblance of defense will get traded soon with the exception of Biedrins. That means Wright for someone like Tyrus Thomas. Nelson wants guys who can run, spread the floor and shoot from outside, and guys who can drive when the paint is open. Now it looks like he's going to be calling the shots more in terms of player personnel because Mullin will be gone and he has his right hand man, Larry Riley, as GM. As for Baron, we know his situation was like Mullin's last hurrah (actually, it was AL for Crawford), but it looks like Baron was the guy Rowell and Mullin fought about and Mullin lost. Let's face it, Mullin is gone. The other guy who plays some D is Buke, and he's trying to be more of a Nellie-ball player, but not succeeding so I think he'll be traded. He should be in the starting lineup, as opposed to Morrow, but I think Nelson will go with Morrow and try to make it work before Monta comes back. Until we find the next great scorer, this team is going to be in a heck of a mess.
You know what made the small ball work before? The Warriors scrambled on the switches and actually hustled to the loose balls and rebounds and got out on the break. Well that's not happening now. Some teams keep "hustle" stats and I bet the Warriors are getting killed in that every game because I do not see the hustle. I used to like the W's being an offensive machine that could gamble on D but now? There is limited offense so let's go to the long limbed D and start playing guys who can actually defend and put the best defensive team out there. To me, that's Biedrins Wright Randolph SJax Crawford Even if our post guys get beat at times on the blocks, just make them keep making shots. I hate how people automatically double in the post. Make the guy make a shot. Make him score 40, he's not going to do it. Instead, by doubling, you end up opening it up for 20 for 3 guys. I hate that.
If they start trading the good defenders and youth, Wright/Bellinelli/Randolph, I'm telling my partners to turn in our $20k tickets next year. I will not pay for that $$$. I'll go start rooting for the Kings, at least they are playing and developing that Thompson guy and letting Garcia play.
I think for the time being, he will be okay as starting PG, but Crawford's game isn't built on driving and dishing. It's more scoring from outside so if he's not getting his points he won't be happy. You gotta think Monta will be in charge when he gets back and Crawford slides over to the 2, but I don't think that's the solution either. Monta's more suitable at the 2-spot with his slasher and drive and dish type game. Yeah, I'm being overly pessimistic, but until we start winning some games consistently, the team will be in a state of flux.
Phil, I know where you are coming from, but Nelson isn't going to play that team. It's like we sold the team to the devil for that one year in the playoffs and now he's coming to collect. Heck, I've been following the Kings, my hometown team, more than the Warriors recently. The Warriors, without Mullin to check Nelson, will be horrible to watch.
