<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The last time the Warriors faced the Heat, Dale Davis missed roll call. A bad back and an outburst directed at coach Mike Montgomery landed Davis on the injured list, and from his familiar roost on the Warriors' bench, he watched Shaquille O'Neal school Golden State for 26 points and 12 rebounds Jan. 12. Davis didn't like sitting, didn't like watching, but the forgotten man in the rotation also didn't have a choice. That isn't the case when the Warriors continue their four-game road trip in Miami tonight. Injuries and suspensions have worn down the front line, and Davis, who has enjoyed a modest renaissance since center Clifford Robinson's back problems surfaced in mid-January, will share the assignment of guarding O'Neal. </div> Source
I've liked Davis' defensive and rebounding game. It's his toughness that got him that one invitation to the allstar game (which was questionable, but you know how the Eastern conference is in terms of big men...). I don't know why Montgomery hasn't played him. Most likely it's his attitude since being traded to a bad team, he's not part of our future in terms of contracts, and the fact Adonal gets paid money to do the stuff he can't do but Davis can (rebound, have defensive awareness, play post defense). Also GM Chris Mullin doesn't want to look bad when our veteran backup outplays Adonal on the glass and with toughness. He just signed Adonal for 8 mil a year for a guaranteed 5 years. Doh!
