<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Warriors may not have settled on a player yet for the ninth pick in the NBA Draft, but Sunday brought an indication of where they might be leaning. Golden State wrapped up six weeks of workouts this weekend by inviting back New Mexico's Danny Granger, Syracuse's Hakim Warrick and North Carolina's Sean May for one last look-over. The trio of college frontcourt players, along with LSU's Brandon Bass (a potential second-round pick), were put through shooting drills and two-on-two scrimmages during a morning visit. Once the session was over, Granger, Warrick and May jetted to New York, where the draft will be held Tuesday night. "I thought I would be more excited to be done with workouts," Warrick said, "but I'm a little more nervous now." Ditto for the Warriors, who spent the weekend "mocking it up," or putting together their own mock drafts, without knowing what the eight teams ahead of them are planning to do. "You have conversations with other teams and you don't really know what is real," general manager Rod Higgins said. For the Warriors, reality is this: Vice president Chris Mullin does not expect the team's first-round choice to be an immediate impact player. The draftee, however, can help improve problem areas like defense and rebounding, he said. Each of Sunday's callbacks would do so differently. Granger, a 6-8, 225-pound power forward out of New Mexico, is projected as an NBA small forward. Scouts laud his all-around game and particularly like his rebounding and passing ability. But Granger's stock has been steadily rising, and he might be gone by the time the Warriors select. Mock drafts have him projected as high as sixth. Granger hails from Metairie, La., and he might be an appealing pick for New Orleans if the Hornets trade down from No. 4. </div> Source
Here's probably the order that they will be taken at #9 1.) Danny Granger 2.) Ike Diogu 3.) Hakim Warrick I'm thinking Frye may still be a bluff on Utah or Toronto. Is anybody at disbelief that Frye went this high? Actually REREM's been on the money with where college draft picks should go in the draft with Frye jumping from mid-to-late first round to lottery, Granger from mid first round to lottery, and Ike Diogu at least getting some #9 at the Warriors love.

I've been watching basketball a long time,I remember black and white games with the Cousy-Sharman Celts against Slater Martin and the Minn. Lakers. I remember when I was growing up in Cincy,Watching Oscar's college games. I can still see in my mind Wilts signature finger roll,or how amazing Magic was as a freshman at Mich St. I trust what I see, generally, though there are guys I can't get a real handle on. A real thing I want to see is a high energy/max effort guy in all aspects of the game. A guy who gives that 105% on the floor will usually be the guy who gives a big effort in the off season and comes back with a new skill or a bit more quickness or strength. Olajuwon was as raw as can be when I first saw him as a soph-but every time I'd see him over the next few years-he had got a LOT better-that is serious POTENTIAL. If a guy has the right stuff in his head,he can upgrade everything else
I saw somewhere the W's would like to see Murphy step up and play more at Center. That works togather with getting a PF candidate at #9. Frye has really done a lot since the end of the season, having heard himself compared to Camby or called too light or soft. So he gone the personal trainer route and is in the 260-270lb area, and stronger. That he's putting out so much effort gets him bonus points-and meanwhile Vazquez's workouts were not top 10 stuff.

Brandon Bass's visit sets up a nice rd 2 IF Ike D is not our guy at #9. The Portland/Utah deal and the way Bynum and Frye have risen may give us an option to pick Granger at #9. Less likely, but slightly possible-Green could slip to 9,or,Green could slip to 7-and we'd perhaps do a 2-spot tradeup,at a reasonable price. I'm fairly sure any mock with Salim available beyond the top 3 RD2 slots is off,but if he lasts to 40-a no brainer,he will be a good PG. Dwayne Jones and Bass can be sweet in Rd 2,Travis Diener,Filliberto Rivera, and Orien Greene are interesting PG's rd 2 May,Warrick, and possibly Blatche will make the top 15. Martynas will be a very late #1. Vazquez will make the top 20 but not by a lot.

What do you think of Travis Diener and Filliberto Rivera, specifically?
