Tipoff: 5 p.m. today, FedExForum. TV: Fox Sports Net. Radio: KTCT (1050). Grizzlies update: Memphis (34-22) is well on its way to the franchise's first .500 season and comes in riding a five-game winning streak. The Grizzlies' previous best was .341 (28-54) last season. F Pau Gasol is leading the way, averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 rebounds. Those numbers are down from last season but may be indicative of contributions from other players. F James Posey has been coming on strong, scoring 84 points over the past four games (21.0 ppg). Coach Hubie Brown has received credit for getting G Jason Williams under control. Williams is averaging 7.1 assists to 1.96 turnovers. Warriors injuries: C Evan Eschmeyer (knees) and F Troy Murphy (ankle) are out. Grizzlies injuries: F Ryan Humphrey (concussion), G Mike Miller (back) and F Theron Smith (back) are out. Records: The Warriors are 24-31 after their 107-96 loss at Indiana on Tuesday; the Grizzlies are 34-22 after their 109-106 win over visiting Denver on Monday. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=- The Warriors have been playing pretty well on back to back games. Lets see if they can keep it up against a very beatable Grizz team.
i can't believe its happening again, this time in the second quarter. 6 turnovers in a row is not the way to even try to win a game. unfortunately it happened again with nick at the point. i'm slowly losing all faith in him. his heart isn't really in it and his knee is preventing him from doing anything remotely close to attacking the basket. the nice thing is that the griz are playing troy bell since speedy has jwil and earl "the ugliest guy in the nba" watson in foul trouble.
There's always hope. Go Cardinal, go off, um...not with Posey on him. Maybe DAmpier can have a huge game?
Looks like the Warriors are going to pull this one out. 97-90 with :20seconds remaining. Look at Jrich go. He has averaged almost 23ppg since the all star break. Is it me or does he seem to step it up for the 2nd half of every season after the all star break. In his rookie year he was averaging around 10ppg before the break then something like 17ppg after the break. His second year he was around 14ppg, then he ended the season at around 16 or 17ppg. This year he was around 18ppg during the first half, and since then he has averaged around 23ppg. Good job. Jrich for the All star team in 2004!
If they could beat both the Bulls and Minnesota I'd be happy. The t-wolves have the kandiman and wallyworld back though.
Didn't see this game tonight, was too stuck on the Lakers victory. Anyways, glad the Warriors could pull one out on the road. Claxton and Dampier carry the Warriors to victory, what else is new? BTW, that's a funny sig ya got there Rudeezy. I thought it was 50 cent until I scrolled down all the way to see it. LOL.
turn around = 5 point play due to all the T's!, go hubie brown!! but u gotta give hubie credit, he's a good coach, and totally backed up his team when he felt that they were gettin ticky tack bs calls.
It was good to see them beat the Griz after that tough 2OT loss a few weeks ago. I do not see them beating the Wolves again at home this year, but I definately can see them beating the Bulls and going 2-2 on the road. That is better than going 0-whatever during that stretch on the road.
I will only get excited if there's a huge win streak. I guess anything could happen like let's say the teams we are competing with for the 8th spot all get injuries like we did and the Warriors stay healthy. That would be a miracle. I hope this won't be the year that Cliff doesn't make the playoffs with a team.
Yeah, anything can happen, I guess. I would LOVE to see the Warriors rattle off a 13 game win streak like the Nets did. haha
Like I said before, 2-2 on this road trip would be considered a success and it now looks very reachable. 3-1 would be a steal and would get this club off and running.
Nope. They do not play a back to back that night. They just came off a big win against the hottest team in the NBA, but I doubt that will effect the way they prepare and play the Warriors on Friday. I just hope the Warriors can put a string of wins together. 2 wins, 3 wins, 4 wins, whatever.
This was a great win! Grizz have been playing stellar ball for awhile now and GS beat them by a good margin in Memphis. Speedy is gettin nuts and it's fun to watch, unless you're a spurs fan. Iv'e never liek NVE. He's always been overrated. I'm surprised they didn't trade him (Ok, wait... St. Jean... not surprised) but I want him gone. There's a difference between confidence and the attitude he brings to the court. His reputation as a fast healer hasn't held true. Most of all, though, the guys doesn't want to be here. He wants out, back to Texas, where he thinks the championship will stay. Begone, Nick!
NVE was never really a popular trade because it involved trading Jiri Welsch and our "allstar" player for NVE, an aging point guard, a French euro-league all-star that couldn't make it in the nba, a constantly injured center, and an injured, under-sized, aging, non-photogenic power forward, to get rid of some bad contracts in order to start over. NVE is fun to watch when healthy, but I think his passion has been shot along with his knees because he knows there is no way in hell the Warriors will make the playoffs unless a continuous win streak happens. Perhaps Jamison could've gotten us a small forward that we wanted, isntead of trying to force Dunleavy at the starting position when he is not ready yet. He needs another offseason to get built.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Memphis coach Hubie Brown was given a second technical foul and ejected by referee Joey Crawford with 6:14 to play. The Grizzlies drew no closer than five points thereafter. In all, Crawford called technicals on Grizzlies Lorenzen Wright, James Posey, Bonzi Wells and two on a dumbfounded Brown. For good measure, Memphis picked up an illegal defense technical, bringing their total to six, a team record. </div> game Screw job by any chance?
