15 minutes after the trade deadline, and no news of any Warriors trades yet. I have heard scenarios about a trade involving the Grizzlies where the main two players involved are Dampier and Battier. What do you guys think of Battier? One thing I do know- watch out when you're trading with West, because unless you're careful, you're going to get robbed.
yeah, i've heard this too. i heard some rumors about swift and battier for dampier. i really like battier...ever since duke. it might work....i don't know though...im not going to analyze anything at this point...im going to wait to see what happens. right now im listening to rick barry defend the warriors.

I've heard about the Swift/Battier deal as well. It's better than the NY trade, but I still don't like this one very much. We'll see what happens. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">right now im listening to rick barry defend the warriors.</div> KNBR? I have been listening to that all morning...to see what the update is on the Warrior deals. Had some interesting and funny debates on where the Warriors future is going earlier today.

I guess it is safe to say no trades went down for the Warriors then huh? Oh well, I am fine with standing pat. I guess we will have to use damp's money on a good free agent.
I'm happy that nothing went down but I am also a little disappointed. I guess I was just expecting something to happen...if that makes any sense.

You wanted the Warriors to get involved in the trading frenzy if it meant making your team better now, or in the future. Since no trade happened though, it just means we go as planned from the beginning of the season. Next year NVE may be trade bait for a team that want salary cap space and would be willing to give us some promising young player.

I often compare Stromile Swift with that of Darius Miles and Ricky Davis. Plenty of athleticism and potential but just plain lazy. If they can make him work, improve him, he'll be a great asset, he has size and great rebounding ability when he tries hard. That could be just what the Warriors need. Some more inside presence, along with some great rebounding ability to help Dampier, Cardinal, and the rest of the Warriors. As for Battier, I haven't seen much of him but heard a lot about him from my Father. He sounds like a really good player, lots of potential, someone with determination and effort. I think this sounds like a good idea. Trading Dampier would net you a lot of good players, so many teams would want him, he has size and defense.
I'm kind of glad that the Warriors didn't make a trade, because most times that we make a trade, we get robbed.
Though the deadline is officially over, can't trades still happen? If I remember correctly, the Ray Allen/Gary Payton deal was made either later that day, or the day after, I can't remember.

Battier is a legitimate NBA player, not a star but someone who can contribute. Oh well, at least we did not get stuck with Mutumbo and Anderson. I am surprised that no one wanted NVE, especially after what he showed last night.
There will definitely be some deals that are announced later on tonight or tomorrow. From the Warriors perspective, I don't know if I would do anything with team right now. I like Battier, but I don't like the deal for Dampier if it's a straight-up swap. Swift would be a nice acquisition if they could reel him in, he still has great upside, he just needs a chance to start consistently and establish himself. I've heard talk on some of the local radio shows about the Lakers and Van Exel, but it would never work unless a third team was involved. I would call it highly doubtful.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">As long as the trade talks happen before the 3pm deadline, trades can still be made.</div> Alright, thanks for clearing that up. I agree OgShowtime, I think their will definetley be some deals announced later on tonight or tommorow as well. I wouldn't pull on any of these deals if I was Golden State. None of them look great from the Warriors perspective. The Knicks deal is just an absolute waste. I'd rather take my chances on re-signing Damp in the off-season rather than making that trade. The Memphis deal doesn't excite me too much either, what do the Warriors gain out of this? If teams keep throwing out horrible offers like these, than I would just pull out of the trade talks. Then again, I wouldn't be suprised if the Warriors actually made one of these deals. Point is, Dampier is a quality Center, and I think they should get more out of him. The "re-building" mode is getting extremely boring, Warriors need to acquire a good young player who they can build around for years to come(wish they had Jamison now), I'd even throw Van Exel in some kind of deal as well. You won't get your Kobe or T-Mac, but they should be able to get something solid.
