Grade the Warriors. Speedy Claxton- B+ Speedy has been doing great and has really impoved his D. Also he has become a constant nuisnace to defenders everywhere. Jason Richardson- A He has dramitcally improved this year and has been carrying the Warriors on his back by being their leading scorer and their key player in the second half. Mike Dunleavy- D+ Dunleavy's lack of hustle and his constant inconsitency has plauged his season this far. However he has had a few games where he puts up good numbers Troy Muprhy- B+ Muprhy has been averaging a double-double a game off an injury plagued season and his transition three dramaticaly improved. Cliff Robinson- B Cliffy has been a key role player and has given good points and minutes and is helping give the Warriors points from beyond the arc. Derek Fisher- D- Fisher has been nothing but a cancer to the Warriors. He jacks up threes when taking the ball up court and is a poor desicion maker. Mickael Pietrus- C+ Mickael Pietrus is a fine player, but he hasn't been looking like he did last year. However he has improved in some things such as threes. Calbert Cheany- C- Calbert's D has been solid, but his offense hasn't been very good and he has provend to be a bit incoinsitent Eduardo Najera- C Najera always has the same energy, but is not able to replace the Custodain, however, his threes and hustle are always good and he is a fan fav. Adonal Folye- C Folye is a good player, but he ins't worth his contract unless he can start playing a lot and replace Erick Dampier. Folye is also imporving his inside game. Luis Flores- B We haven't seen him play that much, but it is obvious he has a lot of potential and could be a good PG in the future if Monty plays him. Zarko Cararakapa- C- We haven't seen him play a lot either, but he can be valuable player in the future and has lot of potential and it might be here where he fits in. Dale Davis- D He hasn't really been looking like he was worth NVE and he has looked Stale on the court. Also he had a mini fued with Monty Andris Biedrins- B We haven't seen him play a lot, but he has great potentail and can be a very good C/PF for years to come. Monty just has to play him. Coaching- C- The Warriors hired Mike Montgemory in the summer of '04 to replace Eric Mussleman. Monty and his coaching staff havne't done a real good job and the Warriors need to be coached through their problems and slumps Management- D+ The mangement of the Warriors hasn't been to good this year. The long term signings of Derek Fisher and Adonal Foyle will hurt the Warriors in the long run. However some things like the aqcuasation of Luis Flores, drafting Andris Biedrins, signing Jason Richardson and Troy Muprhy to long term contracts will benifet the Warriors Ownership-F Well, we're owned by Chris Cowhan, that about sums it up
[quote name='J-Rich23']Grade the Warriors. Speedy Claxton- B Good defensive attitude, outstanding quickness and hops to go with above average ballhandling and long arms. Always moving his feet. Does his role well in breaking down his defender or defenders and dishing off to teammates or getting fouled going toward the hoop. Size hurts him a little when trying to see over defenders or defend against bigger guards that will post him up. Not the best shooter but is an above average playmaker but not a dominant one. He is decent at finishing inside despite his lack of bulk/size. Dribbles with his head down sometimes. Is a hustle player and has a professional attitude. Injury prone. Sometimes reachs in it too much. Jason Richardson- A- A little bit of Nick Van Exel has rubbed into this guy. Rises to the occassion when his team needs it. A player to watch out for in the 2nd half. Finds himself within the flow of games now and is more consistent in scoring from game to game. Good scorer. Has improved his awareness on the court and can easily dish out 4 or 5 assists a game. Good rebounder due to his tremendous hops and has excellent strength for finishing strong around the basket. Hard to keep off the glass. Has some nice putbacks. Improved his defensive attitude and knows that he has to make his team better by playing hard on both ends. Has reliable post up moves to take advantage of weaker guards and is getting more comfortable with the ball in his hands. Can now take off toward the hoop off one foot instead of only two. Poor-Mediocre free throw shooter. Crossover needs work. Three point shooting needs work. Settles for too many threes at times. Sometimes makes bad decisions with the ball. Sometimes falls asleep on defense. Slow lateral movement. Always improving in the areas he's weakest in. Not really a prototypical shooting guard...but a ex-power forward trying to play shooting guard. Has talent, desire, and excellent physical tools to compete. Mike Dunleavy- D Good team player. Nice passing skills from the high post. Good vision of the court. Can handle the ball decently. Good rebounder. Has point guard instincts. Falls asleep on defense and is physically challenged against more agile or stronger wing players. Sometimes reachs in too much or has trouble in the transition game. Probably the slowest player in the nba at his position. Needs lots of help guarding his assignment. Complains a lot to refs, teammates. Good shooting mechanics, but doesn't have a consistent jump shot... from anywhere and has trouble finishing in traffic or with contact. Should take more shots at times when he's showing signs of playing decently. Settles for jumpers even though his outside jumper isn't falling. Should be taking it inside first and using his first step and ballhandling skills more. Is considered a finesse, pure shooter type player, but does not average good numbers from the foul line. Doesn't play very aggressive. The last player you see leave his feet before the other team's 3 pointer goes in. Not a very good actor when taking a charge. Plays really soft for his size. Got knocked to the floor once by the team mascot... A possible spokesman for pert plus if he makes in the nba someday. His best season was last year. Troy Muprhy- B A tough rebounder. Gets good position. Good nose for the ball. Adequate defender in the post. An excellent shooter when left all alone. Has a nice faceup game and has improved his range to 25 feet now. Has a good first step out of the triple threat position. Was a good #4 option with Jamison/Arenas/Richardson. Is he good enough to be a #2? Has good height for a power forward and plays with toughness. Has no reliable inside moves. Looks mechanical in the post. Must improve inside footwork. Doesn't take advantage of pump fakes. Not a great athlete, but can run down the floor. Often stands around a lot on plays or gets in the way. Has to improve court awareness. Doesn't set screens well. Is an okay passer, but does not pass much this year. Sometimes presses to find his offense too much. Not a great transition defender or weakside defender. Doesn't block shots much. A tough player, but doesn't play physical at times or doesn't box out. Cliff Robinson - B Knows his role on the team. Good passer for a big man. A decent scorer. Excellent defensive player in the post. More of a face the basket scorer, but has some ability to demonstrate his post game when it is needed. Very crafty on both ends. Can play under pressure. Not a great rebounder. Settles for a lot of threes. Not a great free throw shooter. A team leader. Very professional attitude. Is in great shape for a 38 year old. Derek Fisher- F- Has a good agent smart enough to swindle dumbasses like Chris Mullin. Jacks up 3's thinking he's Nick Van Exel, who is known to have up and downs in his game. Fish simply has downs... Has point guard ballhandling skills and can pass accurately, but does not have pure point guard instincts. Settles for jumpers way too often... and misses them... often... even when the other team is over the foul limit. Not an athlete, but has really worked on his strength conditioning. Is supposed to be a team captain, but hasn't really earned it on the court. Can't contain quicker guards... taller guards shoot right over him. Decent defender when he isn't being outquicked over shot over. Way too much money for what he's worth and what's left in his remaining years. Mickael Pietrus- C+ The Warriors best all around athlete. Excellent forward leaping ability and has tremendous lateral quickness. The sky is the limit for this player. Can move in any direction very quickly. Very long and energetic. Very raw. Makes bad decisions often, but will get better as he learns the game. Has a good, ethusiastic attitude despite an incident last year where he wanted out. Good defensive player, but not as dominant as he was last year. Can get to the free throw line using his quickness and decent ballhandling. Not a great free throw shooter... Settles a lot for the three ball or expecting to get fouled on the drive. Must improve decision making and court/situation awareness. Very limited offensive moves. All of his offensive game needs to be polished. An exciting player in the open court. Calbert Cheany- C+- Calbert knows his role. Knock the midranger down. Has lost a lot of his athleticism over the years. A very coachable player. A good influence in the locker room. Sometimes turnover prone. Not a great passer. Limited shooting range. Mediocre free throw shooter. Eduardo Najera- C Brings a lot of energy off the bench at either forward position. Does his best at power forward. Very scrappy and aggressive. Will fight for the ball against bigger players and dive on the floor for loose balls. Plays with a lot of heart. You won't find him standing around a lot on either side of the floor. Has a good shot, but very limited shooting range. Can handle the ball some. Looks good dunking the ball. Adonal Foyle - C- Brings hustle and energy. The only Warrior left from the Twardzick era. Great shotblocker. Best community-involved Warrior player. Has some offensive moves like a hook shot or Marcus Camby 20 footer, but a much much poorer contributor on offense. Struggles to rebound in traffc. Has lost a lot of lift and lateral movement. Doesn't get much help boxing out to get to the rebound. Always stays positive and is a good influence on younger players. Doesn't get good position at times in the paint, struggles against bigger players in the post. Poor free throw shooter, but better than Ben Wallace. No moves in the post. Has a nice website. Luis Flores- C Good potential for a combo guard. Needs to find a way to impact the team with his limited minutes. Zarko Cararakapa- C- Seemed aggressive on the floor. Couldn't knock any shots down in the limited minutes he had on the floor. Looks good handling the ball. Mullin's new over-sized small forward obsession because he can't have Jonathan Bender? Was a steal from Phoenix. Dale Davis- C Not worth giving up Nick Van Exel but he brings toughness and rebounding to the team. Should be playing more minutes to replace what Damp brought on the defensive glass last year. Poor free throw shooter. Doesn't whine about not getting the ball. Will whine about minutes. A former one-time allstar. Is in incredibly good shape for his age. Plays tough. No inside or outside game. Great post defense. Poor free throw shooter. Andris Biedrins- B Good potential for an athletic rebounding, shotblocking big man. Very young. Not a man-child like Amare Stoudamire or Lebron James. Is he a power forward or a center? Coaching- B- The lineups are funky, but Montgomery only got a few months to really see what the team can do in a real season where it's a marathon. He's very sound in his understanding of team basketball, but it's up for debate whether the guys Mullin picked out for him were good fits under his system (A system which is slowly being adapted to the nba style of play). Was he Cohan's selection or Mullin's? Mullin's friend Mario Elie is waiting on the side with whatever decision management makes if the losing streak continues. A good coach, but a possible statistic of failed college coaches in the nba set up by the lame general management. Management- F Although the drafts sound nice, one thing is clear, the management has never been consistent with what they want to do long term and often make moves for the sake of making moves when they don't need to and then don't make enough moves when need to. The poor awareness and disillusionment with Warriors management has often been three steps forward, four steps back. Re-signing and overpaying for an injured backup center last year in an effort to make him a starter was poor financial decision making as well as the needs of the team. Signing a 31 year old point guard, Derek Fisher as a free agent for the entire MLE for 6 years was just plain ludicrous given the fact his shooting percentages have been statisically low and he was never known as a playmaker on the Lakers. Neither Foyle or Fisher were bad signings, but the amount they paid them , lowers our flexibility and bargaining power. It will ensure that we can't ever move them unless we give the other team a great deal with one of our other players or future picks. The Murphy and Richardson signings were desperation signings in fear of losing their best talent or probably signs of weakness when their agent, Dan Fegan called them out in the press. They have hefty contracts as well, but there goes any chance to see how the team does when the season is over or how we can add any other key players in addition to re-signing the duo next offseason. Ownership-F Every year of Cohan, we've missed the playoffs. Scapegoat or curse? Where is our humble, apology letter to season ticket holders? At least the Yorks of the niners are in panic mode of losing their loyal season ticket holders. Cohan needs to be more public with his customers so he can express his true desire to do whatever it takes for this team to get better and he needs to stop hiring inexperienced, idiot management. Too late for that though. There was a reason why he got booed in front of his children during the allstar weekend in Oakland. The guy has no passion for basketball or winning and remains to be hidden from the press. He's been making cash off a poor product for years.
Speedy: B: He clearly showed who's better fit for starting PG, and although not as much as Richardson, we dearly miss him. He can change the game and is an excellent defender despite his height. However, he didn't improve that much from last year, and he still gets injured time to time. Richardson: A-: After disappointing Nov, He became a no. 1 guy in this team. And, whoever doubt his importance in this club can see what happen when he was injured. If he can penetrate effectively, he can be a scoring machine. Dunleavy: C: This is the season for him to show what kind of player he will be in the future. So far, he showed that he is an inconsistant marginal starter for this club. For his credit, he showed flash of what many people imagined, smart ball player who does everything. Problem is that it's only a flash, and his game play doesn't impact the game one too many times. I don't mind us to keep Dunleavy as long as we don't have any other option. However, I will probably quit being a Warriors fan, if Mullin gives Dunleavy a ridiculous contract extension. Murphy: B: I always consider Murphy as a very good roll player, because he can't change the game, but he is very good at what he does. I can't even imagine what will happen to our outside jumper or rebounding if he is gone. And, it's not like I expected any inside offense or defense presence from Murphy to begin with, so I am very happy with him. There will be a time, where we may need to move Murphy, because we need to add inside presence and PF is much easier to get. But the way things are going, it will be far from now. Robinson: B-: We miss him a lot, and our individual interior defense really suffers with his absence. In offense, it has been somewhat disappointing, but it's getting better. Seriously, this man deserve to be in PO team. Can we ship him to Spurs, so that he can get a ring? Fisher: C-: Mullin's first FA signing became a 36 mils/6 years paperweight. If he gets 2.5 mils per year to be our back up PG, I will be glad to have him on board. After all, he is a good shooter and not a bad player at all. However, can he stop imitating Kobe, and start to pass the ball more? I thought that's what PG does. Worse ball distributor than Speedy, and really plays like back up PG with absence of Speedy. Pietrus: C-: For some reason, he regressed from last year. I didn't expect him to maintain his defense from last year, but I hope that he refined his offense and add midrange game. Instead, his offense remains same, and even his 3 is suffering. Cheaney: D: I was one of biggest Cheaney supporter last year, because he was highly effective in midrange jumper (48% FG) and his defense was decent. However, even to me, he has been absolutely horrible. I have no idea why he can't drain midrange jumper like last season. Najera: C+: He hustles and do whatever he can possibly do. His contract is a burden, but then, what can we do? Foyle: F: Can somebody please remind him that he is no longer backing up Dampier? Because, in stat wise, it's just same. He is a good blocker, but brings no inside presence like Dampier did, so other teams just drive to the hoop at will. And, we sorely miss what Dampier brought until last season, and Foyle failed to cover any aspect of games Dampier brought. Only thing I can hope is that he still is being affect by the injury, because if not, we are really screwed with his 40 mils/5 years contract. I on Flores, Davis and Cararakapa. Monty: C: I will give a benefit of doubt for now. But, so far, I failed to see him using each player's strenght nor see brilliant offense/defense system. Mullin: F: So... Where do I start? Exactly what happened to this club? There used to be a time where we accumulate so many talents, we had internal problems with it. Then, boom. All talents are gone. Before last season start, we lost both Jamison and Arenas. And, NVE was a cancer. To make things worse, we also lost Murphy through injury, and also lost Speedy when we need him the most. But, that doesn't stop us from winning 37 games. Was it because of Muss? Mullin fired him. Was it because Damp? Mullin didn't even bother to resign him and chose Foyle, although it didn't take rocket science to figure out that we will lose our interior defense and offense. He vastly overpaid Fisher, who proved that he is nothing more than backup PG. Mullin failed to fill the hole we had before, and created blackhole like problems everywhere. Now, when we miss Richardson, Robinson or Speedy, we directly feel their absence, because there simply isn't enough talent to make up the loss or a coach who can adopt that situation. Once promising young team with financial flexibility in the future turned into a team with salary cap hell and not much young talent in just one season. Everywhere where it went wrong, you can see Mullin's touch... Cohan: D: Thank you for opening the wallet whenever necessary Cohan. However... Please stay out of any basketball decisions! And, whenever you need to make the decision, do not trust the hype! Like you did on PJ, Mullin and Monty! I like how he opened the wallet like average owner, but whenever he made a basketball decision, it has been deadly for this club...
