QUOTE

Golden State took it on the chin from Detroit. Looking down the line almost all of the top Warriors had bad games and most of the best Pistons had great games.

Baron at one for eight and only one assist, only seven minutes for Azubuike and only five shots for Monta Ellis. When that happens and four Pistons starters hit more than half their shot, it’s going to be a bad night.

The game was still in reach until the second quarter until a massive run put GSW in a 23 point halftime hole. The starters played relatively few minutes thankfully, with Baron only clocking 23 and the bench getting a lot of action.

Austin Croshere scored 12 points and even Marco Belinelli put in some time with 16 minutes and five points. The big treat however was Brandon Wright getting serious PT. The Rookie tested out his range and ended up scoring ten points to go along with four boards. It’s good to see him actually get court time and to see him play a solid 17 minutes.

There also needs to be a moratorium on really old announcers referring to players by their nicknames. It annoyed me when the Jazz announcer kept referring to Deron Williams as “DWill” and resurfaced when Detroit’s announcers kept referring to Chauncey Billups and “Big Shot.” Honestly it makes the announcer sound old and dated. Leave the nicknames to Charles Barkley or some of the younger people calling games.

Looking forward, the Warriors now face the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. While they don’t have the greatest record, Memphis has more than enough talent to come together on any given night and knock off a winning team.

Golden State catches a break however as Pau Gasol is out with a toe injury. In their last game the Grizzlies went with a terrifically small lineup(Rudy Gay at power forward) a trend that should continue tonight.

Baron and Monta should be able to abuse Navarro and Damon Stoudamire but the question with be, how well can Jackson play Mike Miller? Miller right now is shooting 50 percent and 42 percent from beyond the arc, both numbers that fill me with dread.

Darko is another player who is really worrisome since he can sometimes play very big on the low block.

Marc Iavaroni likes to run, so at the very least the fans will get a great team. GSW usually does well against fast paced teams since they are entirely in their element.

Nelson might try to jump the Grizz by putting Harrington at center to try to make the game even faster but that might not work in the long run. It could fatigue Darko but could also backfire if the big Serbian gets into a rhythm and plays like a monster inside.

Matt Barnes average better than 18 per game against Memphis last season, so look for him to lead Golden State’s bench efforts.

The Dubs will need to have much more energy than last night and the lack of heavy minutes yesterday should help that. The Grizzlies have a lot of talent but if Golden State plays their game and hits their shots they will have a great chance to win.

Source: MVN.com

Anybody see this game? I couldn't get up since it was one of those early in the day type of games. Plus, I can't record games for some reason.
