Louis Amundson has been a valuable contributor coming off the bench the last two years for the Suns. However, it doesn't look like he's going to re-sign with the team. "It's too bad Phoenix didn't value me enough to keep me around," Amundson told The Arizona Republic. "I felt like it was a great situation and I gave everything I have. It's a business and I'm trying to have a thick skin. "I was always concerned (about the chances). Knowing they signed Hakim Warrick and Channing for that much money ($30 million over five years), that was not a good sign." Amundson says Charlotte, Golden State and Toronto have shown interest in signing him. Source: The Arizona Republic He'd be a great fit off the bench to replace Turiaf's energy and hustle.
This would be a great pick-up. I'm all for it. He was originally on the Warriors SL squad a couple years back, if I recall.
Totally. Kind of reminds me of David Lee. The Warriors may have the best shot at getting Amundson. Why? Amundson said Charlotte, Golden State and Toronto have shown interest in signing him. His hopes of landing in Denver, near his Boulder, Colo., roots, fizzled once the Nuggets signed Al Harrington. "We're talking pretty seriously with a lot of teams," said Amundson's agent, Mark Bartelstein, who represents another free-agent big man (Mark Blount) that has the Suns' interest. "He's the best big on the market." Amundson, 27, averaged 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 14.8 minutes per game for the Suns last season. "I really liked it there," Amundson said. "I don't like leaving." Read more: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/sun...hoenix-suns-amundson-lopez.html#ixzz0vUXM13oe Amundson was a fan favorite albeit no offense. Check out the poll by clicking below: Quickly becoming a fan favorite before most people could correctly pronounce his last name, Amundson was a top signing priority over the offseason for some fans, over the likes of All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire and another bench stand-out in Channing Frye. He was so high on the fans' list because of what he brought coming off the bench. His hustle night after night defined him as a player. The only problem, he was a huge offensive liability. As much as he brought to the table defensively, there are players on the Suns ready to take over his position. Even after the best season of his career, the money wasn't there to entice Amundson to return. Instead money was spent on the re-signing of Channing Frye, and acquisitions of Hakim Warrick, Hedo Turkoglu, and Ganai Lawal. He will be on the radar of many sub-par teams looking to rebuild around a young core. Other teams will be able to offer him a three or four year well-deserved contract—something the Suns couldn't do. Teams interested in his play are the Warriors, Raptors, and Bobcats, and with all teams he could serve a larger role off the bench. Most Suns fans will argue that the team is better with Lou, but the team can improve. Although, he was a stand-out rebounder and shot blocker, that was all he offered. With no low post offense, a terrible jump shot, and an even worse free throw percentage, it was hard not hoping and praying he'd pass the ball every time he held possession. The potential is there, but the Suns have three more players willing and ready. Read more: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/426393-louis-amundson-fan-favorite-but-time-to-say-good-bye
I'd rather have a more balanced player. Can we just go to the nbdl and find a more useful role playing PF/C? I mean what about Tolliver and Chris Hunter?
http://espn.go.com/blog/TrueHoop/post/_/id/19249/warriors-hornets-pacers-in-amundson-hunt Assuming money/years on the contract are equal I'm not sure why he would want to come here where he may not get playing time with Lee, Wright, Udoh, Beans in the mix.
Depends on the coach. Styles are a big part of it. I think playing in an up-tempo system would be a big incentive. Also, something tells me that if they bring him over at least 1 of Beans Udoh and Wright will be moved.
Lou Amundson will finally find a home this week Tue Aug 24,2010 1:40 PM ET By Rob Mahoney It's still a bit curious that Lou Amundson, a nice complementary big who rebounds, hustles, and defends, is a free agent, but he should find a new team pretty soon. From Michael Falgoust of USA Today: Forward Lou Amundson, the odd man out in the Phoenix Suns' offseason shuffle, is expected to sign this week with the Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Hornets or Indiana Pacers. "We're getting close to doing something," said Mark Bartelstein, his agent. "I think we'll get something done with Louis this week." We've already discussed what landing with any of those three teams would mean for Lou in the past, and we've reached the point in the off-season where everything remains rather static. The Hornets, Pacers, and Warriors are essentially the same teams they were last week, though with some minor moves made on the periphery here and there. A cliff's notes version for you: Indiana is Amundson's best chance for playing time, Golden State could easily turn sour if Lou ends up buried in a pretty deep rotation, and Hornets should be a fantastic opportunity as long as Chris Paul remains in New Orleans. Amundson isn't a complicated player, and these potential outcomes reflect that. What Lou offers is very straightforward, and for teams looking for activity and rebounding on the cheap -- like Indiana, New Orleans, and Golden State -- Amundson is a great find. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/08/lou-amundson-will-finally-find-a-home-this-week.php
Sean May just got waived from the Nets because of a stress fracture in his left foot. Never been a big fan of his but he could be a decent insurance option to play some PF/C. Amundson is preferred obviously but hes taking forever to make a decision.
