Take your pick... Jason Kidd Vince Carter Baron Davis Paul Pierce Michael Redd This is the 2nd story today I have read from 2 different sources saying Kidd. I personally would love to have Paul Pierce or Kidd. Pierce, just because he is younger. Kidd would be awesome though. He could really turn this team around... http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,14...2523305,00.html
I'll go with Pierce here. He'd probably be the most affordable of the potential trades, and since the Warriors won't shell out any big amount of cash to their current players, why would they pick up a big wealthy contract of Kidd's anyways. Although,Kidd would be the better player if the Warriors are going to trade,it's probably going to be the least expensive contract there going to pick up.
Yes, Mullin will pull off a deal. He has said to Ric Bucher according to last night on espn fast break that he expects in two years for Murphy to be a top 15 PF and same for JRich. He is paying these guys on potential. In 2 years Murphy very well could become a top 15 PF and JRich is a top ten SG. So how does this guy expect to make the playoffs? Trade for a superstar. Who knows if it's going to be one of those five guys. It depends who falls short this season and starts to feel hopeless. I doubt the suns would tank but there's Marion. The kings could underachieve and finally trade Peja etc. Mullin went after Shaq pretty aggressively before Shaq said he would not go to Golden State. Mullin ain't st. jean, he will pick up the damn phone and make some calls.
I just hope we dont trade Pietrus, Jrich, or Murphy anyone else on this team is pretty much tradeable. Dunleavy is close to being on the above list...
I would really really be surprised if any of those trades happens, such as trading our young players + expiring contracts + picks for max player. Just two seasons from now, we pay about 40 mils on Richardson, Murphy, Foyle, Fisher and Najera, and that figure will only go up for next few years. If we add another max player in that formular, that means Cohan will definitely pay luxury tax for years, and that will probably put us #4 at payroll in the league. Of course, there is a zero chance of us resigning any of our players, so we may as well trade them. Either that or Mullin is absolutely pushing the panic button, and decided to throw 'all' eggs into one basket. If Cohan didn't agree to pay luxury tax extensively and Mullin makes the move, the situation can be really ugly like you never have seen before. We may pay couple first rounder pick just to dump Fisher or Najera's contract...

JRich and Murphy would be the 2nd and 3rd option. No player would want to come here without those two already here. Not only that but their BYC status. As far as Pietrus goes, I hope Mullin doesn't trade him because I think he's the SF of the future. Dunleavy can do all these little things but we need him to be aggressive and play good defense which he can't do. If we can pull off a trade for one of these players forget about needing scoring because we'll have it from this new guy which will open up JRich and Murphy's games. We'll need defense/athleticism and Pietrus is just that.

I just hope he doesn't mouth off and want out because of that though. That kid is special. Biedrens is a project, but he's got so much upside. And his main game is defense which is always a good sign. You don't want your leading scorers to be suckers on defense because that just doesn't set the tone. That's why I think Jrich has to go, Murphy should go to the bench or something. I don't think Murphy is the poorest defender he's just too athletically challenged and uncoordinated to be the power forward we want unless he starts using that post game he talked about using a summer ago. The only reason why Jrich looks like an allstar at times is because he gets his biggest numbers during allstar rookie games where nobody plays defense because nothings at stake. Maybe I'm being biased but I'm just not seeing it with Jrich because he doesn't lead with the same intensity on both ends of the floor.
We did not sign Jrich and Murphy to big contracts for one or both of them to come off the bench. Murphy will develop a low post game. Listening to the radio last night, it sounded like Murphy was hitting more tough inside shots than his bread and butter 18ft jumpers. Jrich is nervous right now, his offense will come around, but it sounds like he has played better defense this year. The most promising thing about him is he has improved every year, that shows desire and good work ethic which is always important. Pietrus. This kid is awesome. If I had to choose right now who to keep and had to build a team around someone, it would be him. I think the way he plays defense is amazing. He has the athletic ability to explode to the rim, and has shown flashes of an offensive game. He will be better than Jrich someday and I hope he is our SF of the future. Dunleavy. By listening to the radio, it sounded like he asserted himself at times, but then at times disappeared. I want to see this kid develop, but Pietrus will be better than him overal without a doubt. I just hope he does not turn into a Peja when we let him walk. He could be a great role player. Biedrens. Have not seen anything of him yet so it is hard to say anything about him. I like his big body and strength that I have heard about. He just needs to gain about 50lbs and we can play him as a center and Foyle as a PF...
Dunleavy becoming Predrag Stojakavic is wishful thinking. LOL. Peja could run circles around him and he'd be sent skyward up into a tornado until he's carried out of the arena. Jrich I just can't stand watching this guy get burned all the time. He shielded off a guy thinking he can't go right and he was a right handed player. And then there was the time he just got burned plain and simple. Foyle had to pick up the foul. I've got mixed feelings about a Michael Finley/Vince Carter streaky type player that can't even at least d it up or handle the ball like Finley can.
Weight really comes over years, and has to be gradual. The only time you can drastically increase muscle is illegal ('roids), unless your body has some unfulfilled potential (i.e. you hadn't been working out really hard, but still it's not that fast.) The W's will probably have to give up one of our attractive young players and/or several draft picks to get a superstar. I think that the idea of a trade this season would be great, but for the players listed above, fanciful at best.
That's what I'm thinking. I don't think we should even think about giving up Biedrens or Pietrus. I am all about defensive minded players that have aggressivness. Good defense can lead to the easiest points and if you have good individual defenders, imagine what team defense will be like. If we had that infrastructure in place then I wouldn't mind a weak defender, good scorer like Richardson to help with the scoring load, with easy buckets off turnovers and trips to the foul line as adding to the point total. We would need a point guard that can run an offense and will not make a mistake with an open jump shot. The rest could be pure jump shooters in the mold of guys like Wesley Person or somebody that can knock it down with relative ease.
Hell yeah, cap relief. But the idea of having money scares me because Mullin would throw it at the wrong lineup for coach Montgomery. What we need are Jerry Sloan and Larry Brown type players. I'd take Josh Childress. Send Jrich to Atlanta and we'll take Antoine Walker. The only problem is that Walker lives and dies by the 3 and he's god awful from the line.
