Golden State Warriors' vice president Chris Mullin and special assistant Mitch Richmond had a "good meeting" with Miami Heat free-agent forward James Posey in Las Vegas on Friday, according to Mark Bartelstein, Posey's agent. Bartelstein said the Warriors are among several teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Washington Wizards who have expressed interest in his client and that talks were ongoing. Isn't Matt Barnes the same exact player? Knock down 3's and play solid man-to-man defense? Only thing is, Posey was proven before he came to Miami, unlike Barnes when he came to GS (unproven).

Posey is a better defender, but they are both solid rebounders. I like Barnes more though, he can handle the ball well unlike Posey.

While Matt Barnes is a great player and definitely proved his metal last year in the playoofs, he, like most of the Warriors, is young and inexperience. I think that Barnes is a better player than Posey and has more potential, but Posey could bring a much needed element to the Warriors; experience. He has been there. He won a championship with the Heat. Yes, the Heat won because of Dwayne Wade, but still, Posey knows what it is like to make a deep run in the pressure cooker that is the NBA playoffs. Does that mean the Warriors should pick him up? Not necessarily, In my opinion the best move the Warriors have made this season is pick up Brandon Wright. Let's face it, the Warriors need a post man who can score and defend.
