Doesn't matter. He won't play under Nellie. He'll get inconsistent minutes, show his talent, then leave the Warriors.
This guy can barely hold his ground when we slotted him PF, now you're playing him center??? Dwight Howard vs Radmanovic what the fuck I actually feel bad for him, he will get destroyed.
Radman isn't strong enough to mix it up on defense with the big, strong players in the NBA. San Antonio? What were you thinking Vlade? If I was Radman, I'd mix it up a couple times on the defensive end, realize my limitations and then focus on my offense and get my 3-ball production to at least 36%. Pretend you're a painter with new, clean overalls. At the end of the day, you stay out of the paint and go home with nice, clean overalls and 20 pts and you're considered a savior.
Surprisingly. Wait a little bit though, it'll turnout like the Randolph BS that's going on right now.
Nelly gives Randolph his blessing I'm not saying it'll happen, but Nellie (not Nelly...) is saying it.
Interesting blog by Steinmetz. Coming out of College, this was the idea with Randolph. I mean, there were several NBA "authorities" who revealed their lack of insight/preparation by making comments like "GS just drafted a Brandan Wright clone." Anyone who had seen Randolph in college could see his game is totally different. They are both long, athletic, and similar in hair tone, skin color, stature, and general appearance, but the similarities stop there. As far as hoops, they are worlds apart (I currently prefer Wright's game for this particular group of players). I was super-hyped on Randolph when we drafted him because I envisioned him eventually at the SF position, like Lamar Odom. He has handles, decent court vision, and the body type to give him a chance at that position. Honestly, if Randolph had the work ethic and mentality of Anthony Morrow, he could be an awesome SF. By now he would have figured out exactly what to do to stay on the floor, and would have earned his shots by contributing to the team the hard-way. But the reason why Randolph hasn't exactly progressed the way many thought he would is mostly mental, it appears. I am still a huge supporter of his game. And there's a part of his mentality that a star must have: the fire, the drive, the anger and the passion to be great. He sure has that. He wants to be the best. He thinks he can dunk on everyone, all the time. He truly, truly seems to believe he's the next Jordon, lol. And there's nothing wrong with that. Great players must believe they are the best, unlike POB or Darko. But you have to combine that half of the "star" mentality with the day-to-day fortitude and drive to get better and better, each day. For example, Morrow wasn't born a great shooter. That dude just works, relentlessly (according to GS insiders), every hour, every day, to get better. That's what Jordan did. It's what Kobe does. A star has to combine those two aspects. You believe you are great, you feel a sense of entitlement to shots, to the ball, because it's your court, it's your game, you are dominant. But you earn that mentality by working harder than anyone else. It seems Randolph is starting to learn that your work-ethic speaks for you. Your actions speak for you. I think Nellie sees the fire, the potential to be great. Randolph certainly has the physical gifts to be elite. So it's just a matter of maturing and earning it the right way. This one area I did not think it would be a problem. Randolph comes from a military family. His parents are very involved in his life, and I just assumed good family values and a humble upbringing would translate to good NBA character. But I don't know so much any more. What with his family getting involved in his playing time situation, and his mouthy agent, and his seemingly immature antics on the court, it's tough to tell. But I'm sure not defending Nellie. That dude's just annoying now, running his "four guards and a big" little racket which never wins anything, putting Mags at PF, barely using Chris Hunter when he could be a very good bench player given time... But the point-forward thing is just annoying too. It's lame and gimmicky to see Randolph try to "run the point." It's like "what the hell are you doing out there?" He's not Vlade Divac and he won't be draining 20 footers all day. It places him away from the hoop, where he needs to be to get tips and rebounds, and it takes the ball out of the hands of your guards -- Nellie's best weapons. I don't know right now if Randolph could ever play SF the way I thought. But he is out-matched at center. So it's encouraging to think Nellie will really play him at SF alongside Beans. That's one step closer to success for this team.
