<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The nine-player trade that sent Antawn Jamison to the Dallas Mavericks for Nick Van Exel in the off-season hasn't quite worked out on the court like the Warriors had hoped. The deal, however, did help straighten up what had been a messy long-term salary-cap situation for Golden State.

After the Warriors let Thursday's noon deadline pass without making a trade, General Manager Garry St. Jean said he wasn't about to go dirtying up the place again -- despite a good deal of interest in center Erick Dampier.

2005-2006 will be the year when all the good big men are available. I can think of one guy who the warriors would want and that guy is 7'6" 300 odd pounds and is Chinese. I doubt he'll leave his team though.

I doubt he will be able to. I think the rockets would be able to match any offer because of the bird rights. Am I wrong?

Yeah that's why I think it would be impossible too, but he could always sulk and whine about wanting to be traded [IMG]. Plus he plays for the Chinese National team in the offseason so it would be hard to develop his training for the regular season. And to top that off, he's a big guy that can get injured if he keeps this constant basketball play all year round without some rest. That's probably partly why Van Gundy has him in the game in fewer minutes than most league centers. Kind of like what they do with Marcus Camby of the Nuggets since he's always getting injured if he plays heavy minutes.

Don't even think of touching Yao. [IMG]

Stick to Dampier for now, because Yao will most likely never leave the Rockets. [IMG]

    Dream on.

Yao is awesome. Sure there's room for improvement, but look at how much basketball he plays all year round. There's no rest.

Sure, he plays a lot, but he looks like he can stand it. I'm fine with the way he's playing now. The Warriors can't get him. Face it.

Don't worry the Warriors have proved they can't get anyone good in the free agent market anyway.

Except for Speedy and Cardinal. I love you guys.

Haha. Didn't they get Cardinal in a trade?

Cardinal came from Washington as a free agent I thought.

Oh I see. I wasn't up to date on the Warriors' deals. Anyways, the Warriors' big-name signings have never panned out.

Big name free agents play for coaches, the management and winning records if not for just the money. Sometimes location, but the Bay is all right. Lots of basketball fans.

    Of course that's obvious. [IMG]

Yeah I didn't know why I neglected to point that out earlier. He's only my biggest fan favorite because of him being so humble and terrific while being known as the unknown "training camp invitee" with a non-guaranteed contract. But for the most part he is considered a free agent, just was never expected to make it off the IR list or active rotation.
