why didn't they sign Reggie Williams instead? http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/index.jsp?player=reggie_williams Anyone know if there are restrictions to signing DLeaguers? Because Williams is averaging 26pts/6reb compared to Martin's 14pts/4reb...and they are basically the same size...same position...
There's no limitations. Williams has nice numbers but he's got some defensive issues; D-League numbers are always taken with a grain of salt. Martin is much more polished defensively compared to Williams. Plus, he has some familiarity with our system from being in the summer league and having played a few 10-days with the Bobcats. I would have called up Anthony Tolliver, basically a 3 point/defensive big man, but maybe they felt he was too slow.
Pretty sure Martin wrecked shop in the D-League last year and we were ready to at least invite him to training camp before he signed in Europe. I like the move. Dude belongs in the league.
He played very well last night, guarding LeBron in the post and on the perimeter. He took some good shots in the flow. Morrow can shoot but that's it. Okay, Morrow's my next target and I like Martin better.
u guys should sign pops mensah-bonsu, he would fit into your high tempo style
Defensive issues, eh? Well, he'd probably fit right in with Nelson's style of ball. All right guys, we're going to play 4 small guards and a forward. Now play some D!
