Let me know, would you do it?

I would. Van Gundy wants a traditional PG that can handle only shooting 15 times per game and just to dump it off to Yao. He also wants a sharp shooting SG to shoot the three with consistency when Yao gets doubled. Would this work salary cap wise? I would do it. Maybe we could throw Dunleavy in with them and get a Mobley or something. Then maybe draft Childress from Stanford...eh? eh?

How about throwing in Maurice Taylor?

Actually, I'd love your idea! One thing that Rockets fans would reject: Jason Richardson. We do not need another scorer on our team. I'd like it better if:

    Speedy Claxton/Eric Dampier/Mike Dunleavy for Francis/Cato

J-Rich and Speedy for Francis?? Hell no. I'm not even sure I'd trade em to get Kobe. Francis sucks. That's my opinion. If you dump in Dunleavy might as well get Jim Jackson. Or else the trade seems too one sided. Francis/Cato for Damp/Dunleavy/J-Rich/Speedy. That's a stupid move. Whoever's gonna do that.

No way. You just can't win with a PG as your main scorer. Speedy is perfect for us. We would have to give up too much for Francis and it wouldn't be worth it.

as Rudeezy said, the warriors would be giving up too much, and especially not any of the Gaurd positions i personally think that the backcourt is good, if there were a position(s) the warriors need some depth on it would be the forward position(SF and/or PF or both)

I think the days of the Warriors collecting talented pieces that don't fit together ended last week. That was Saint's main problem.

Right now the young core is developing chemistry. Mullin wants to keep them together, which I strongly agree with.

As for Francis, he's no longer the Franchise. It's admirable that he really tried to change his game to fit with Van Gundy's system, but the fact that he couldn't do it is the very reason why the Warriors shouldn't trade for him. Sure he'd be more suited to the run and gun style the Warriors will most likely play next year, but when was the last time a fastbreak team made it deep in the playoffs? At some point you need to have a dominant, scoring pf/c and be capable of playing a half court game. Francis proved this year that he's just not capable of that style of play.

What about Stephon? He turned that team around. What about GP when he was on the Sonics? What about Baron Davis? That is just to name a few.

I think that a line up of Francis, Petrius, Dunleavy, Murphy and Damp could be just as good if not better than what Houston has this year...

No freakin way! Richardson is going to be an absolutely amazing player in the next 2-3 years, and also Speedy can give us that run-and-gun style. Francis would take too many stupid shots.

Especially in the West, you need a big low post pressence as we have seen with the Spurs, Lakers, Wolves.

For me, I want my team built around guys like Dampier and Murphy.

Marbury had Stoudemire and Marion in Phoenix, and you can be a 45 win team in the east without a big man, but it's not going to get you anywhere in the playoffs.

GP had Kemp in Seattle. Once Kemp left and Baker wasn't producing, Seattle did nothing. Payton did nothing in Milwaukee.

Baron has had good, but not great big men in Magloire and PJ Brown. And again, you can get away with that in the east. Damp and Murphy may be able to get the Warriors by in the west, but if Francis were here, Damp would have the same problems with him that he had with Arenas. And I consider Damp's contribution this year to be more important than what Arenas gave the Warriors last year.

The only team that's ever been able to go anywhere without a dominant big man is Jordan's Bulls. And I'm not sure Jordon would be as dominant if zone defenses were allowed in the 90s.

The Warriors are better off with Speedy and Richardson, then applying the money they save towards a dominant big man, whether it be Damp, Brand, or someone else.

    That's why you lose. [IMG]

Those two will be All-Stars at best, not the franchise player if placed on almost any other team. And btw, don't slam Warriorsfan93 just because he made a trade proposal, I'm sure he was thinking of helping the Rockets get to the Finals next season. [IMG]

Speedy proved last year that he can play with a dominant big man and win a championship. Francis is proving this year that he can't. So you can make an argument, albeit a weak one, that Speedy would be more valuable to the Rockets than Francis.

Its a similar argument as why Dallas underperformed this year. There was too much talent and it didn't mesh. No one doubts that Francis is a more talented player than Speedy, but I think Speedy would make the Rockets a better team if he were there in place of Francis. He's quick enough to get his own shot when he needs to, but he also knows how to dump it down to the center and react off whatever the big man does.

By the way Trip, now that Mullin is the GM+ for the Warriors, Dunleavy has officially become untouchable. You're just going to hope that Nacho shows you more of what he did against Malone last night.

Yeah, 14.1 attempts to be exact during regular season. He shot 40.3% ouch from the field. That's like Jerry Stackhouse and Antoine Walker percentages. Ugly! Plus as great as a dribbler as he is, his passing and decision making kind of suck. I would rather have Jason Kidd if I'm going to be taking that max contract because Jkidd makes his teammates better. There's also Steve Nash and Baron Davis who are stud point guards. I'd rather have the cap if you ask me so that a variety of options can happen in 2005. Like the ability to re-sign our young core or pick up a major free agent. wink wink.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">How about throwing in Maurice Taylor?</div>

Contracts way too big it wouldn't work under the collective bargaining agreement rules.

Jrich is still making his rookie salary and claxton is like midlevel exception or something. Maurice is pretty high, so is Cato (same as Damps almost), and Francis is the max at 10-16 mil a year till 2009. Mo Taylor makes like 8.5 to 11 million a year to 2007.

So basically the contracts don't work in a single trade. Cato isn't worth a Dampier. Speedy and Jrich are more valuable than Steve Francis because you have to take into account that Speedy gets you to the foul line and locked down poor old Steve Francis himself with stingy defense and Jrich provides the scoring ability of a shooting guard in a shooting guard's body not a shooting guard in a point guard's body (Steve Francis).

How about Cato, some other guy for NVE and Eschmeyer and you give us a draft pick and/or cash to balance it out. [IMG] Cato comes off the books nicely in 2005. So NVE gets his wish to play for a Texas team and we get rid of big guy who can rebound that is always hobbled all the time. And the warriors simply get a center whom they need if Damp opts out and Foyle goes to free agency.
