<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sam Cassell proved how valuable he is by spending too many minutes on the bench.

Cassell was hampered by foul trouble before fouling out and the Timberwolves had a five-game winning streak snapped in a 97-90 loss to the Golden State Warriors, who got 21 points and 19 rebounds from Erick Dampier.

Seeking his first All-Star berth, Cassell had a rare poor game. He was limited to 31 minutes and did not do much with them, collecting 14 points and four assists while committing seven turnovers. </div>

What a great win for the Warriors. They are starting to make a move now at the best possible time. Erick Dampier continues to amaze and prove he deserves to be in the All-Star game. Speedy did a great job on Cassel pretty much shutting him down. Cardinal had another great night off the bench scoring 21 points and grabbing 9 boards. Amazing.

Dammnit! How could we lose? Well could've been worse, we could've lost to the Hawks or the Wizards. Good win for the Warriors, congratulations. Always loved Claxton, glad he's finally able to play some serious ball. Hard to believe he "shutdown" Cassell though. However I didn't see the game, so I can't really comment.

I wouldnt say speedy shut him down. Sam shot his normal 50% for the field. Sam just comitteed nothing but dumb fouls that kept him on the bench in the second half especially the 4th. And all of his turnovers were unforced except one. Sam just didnt play smart & not because of speedy defense. After Sam got the tech called on him when it should have been either a no called or a tech on Cardinal for bumping Sam. Sam just lost concentration & started commiting dumb fouls on people 50 feet from the basket. It was one play were Sam drove the whole missed the layup but he felt like he was fouled cause you could hear him say "and1". but instead of him sucking up the no call. He takes a swipe at the ball when Dampier had a secure rebound. He picks up his 5th foul & sits for the next 3 minutes. The lead switches from T-wolves to G-state. And another stupid foul was when speedy claxton was falling down at the 3pt line & Sam just basicly falls over the top of him for no reason. Sam should have just let him go speedy was more than likely going to turn the ball over anyway. With Troy Hudson leaving the game because of injury Sam really needed to not committe stupid fouls. Sam really left his teammates out to dry when he committed the 6th foul on Dampier driving to the whole for the Dunk. Sam should have just let him go the timberwolves would have only been down by 3 with a 1:40 left in the game. That would have been plenty of time for the timberwolves to pull out a win. I can admit when Sam crushes his teams sprits with stupid plays. And that exactly what he did on that play. Watching your starting point guard & one of your go to clutch players walk to the bench with a 1:40 left in a close game killed the sprits of everybody on that timberwolves bench. You could see it in their faces when Flip called that time out after Dampier made the two free throws. To see KG face with all that time left on the clock, you pretty much knew the t-wolves were done. Spree had a chance to tie the ball with a 3 pointer but it didnt go. I think they should have ran a play for Fred in that situation instead of taking a fastbreak 3 by spree.but its easy for me to say that now.

It's good to see Speedy playing and producing,It's a shame NVE when he returns will be the starter as Speedy sure does deserve the playing time ahead of him.Van Exel should be used as a spark off the bench, with heavy minutes he seemed to of struggled.

Speedy proved he could play during last year's playoffs. When the Warriors signed him I thought he'd take over Gilbert Arenas' production and keep the Warriors in playoff contention. Then the team traded Jamison and brought in Van Exel, that's why Speedy has been forgotten this season.

I agree with allnet, Speedy should remain the starter. He has started in 7 games since Van Exel went out and he is averaging better than 15 points per game. He does so much for this team that goes unnoticed by the everyday fan.

I was watching the game on league pass & they said that coach Eric M. was seriously thinking about keeping speedy as a starter. NVE is surpose to return in a week or less. Its going to be interesting. I would Keep speedy, because Nick is the type of player that when he gets bored with a situation. And he decides that he wants off the team, his production really starts to slip. And he can become a problem to the coach. If Nick says he wants out. I would really find away to trade him before the feb deadline, if I was Chris Mullen.

I think you have to keep Speedy as a starter. He is a great defensive player and he showed that against Cassel last night.

Glad the Warriors could pick up this W. That makes them 5-5 in their last 10. Sure, that's not the greatest, but it's definetley a big improvement from what they were doing a couple weeks ago. Richardson continues his good play posting a double double last night. I am going to say it now, Erick Dampier to the All-Star game. This guy is truly a monster, forget about Shaq, Dampier needs to be there. Seriously, this guy is consistently putting up anywhere from 15-20 points, and 15-20 rebounds lately, and continues to carry the load for the Warriors.

Just a few looks at where his stats rank among the NBA:

Ranks #4 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game(11.5)
Ranks #1 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds(201.0)
Ranks #5 in the NBA in Double-doubles(23.0)
Ranks #6 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(10.4)
Ranks #7 in the NBA in Field-Goal Percentage(0.509)
Ranks #18 in the NBA in Blocks(72.0)

Nice to see the other Warrior players pick it up for Cliff's bad night.

That's what happens when you played on a defensive minded team in prior seasons.

I like Sppedy - he's on of the best point guards out there, and fast as hell. Let him run the fastbreak, and you better foul.

Great win by the Warriors. Good to see them beat a good team like the Timerwolves.
