They all played here during their careers..and all 3 left town via FA and trade. They need to come in here looking to make a statement, but also they cant exclude the other players. [*]Hughes on Richardson- Jason Richardson is the key guy for the Warriors. Will Larry Hughes be able to contain him? Yes he will, IMO Richard Jefferson is a better player than Jason Richardson, and Larry Hughes was able to contain RJ. If he can do that, he can control Richard Jefferson..just do not let him get going early with a couple of dunks, or it could be a long night. [*]Haywood- Haywood has been pretty good for us this year, except for the first two games of this road trip. He has played horrible games in L.A. and Phoenix. He is going up against the much smaller Cliff Robinson, but he can knock down the perimter shot. Will Haywood be able to defend him on the perimeter or will the Wizards see a lot of Kwame Brown tonight?
Golden State:
[*]Team Effort- The matchups are in the Wizards favor. They have the better starting lineup and argueably a better bench. All of the Warriors are going to need to show up to play tonight or this will be a feast for the quick guards the Wizards have. [*]Stop Penetration-The Spurs guards, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, owned the paint in the Warriors last game. They were getting in there with ease, if Gilbert Arenas can do that like he did against the Lakers then it will be no contest for hte Wizards. I expect the Warriors to come out and play hard and stop penetration. [*]Run- The Wizards are coming off of 2 games in 3 nights. Run them, see if their legs are good. If it is workling, try to run them out of the buildiing. If this works then the Wizards will be tired on offense and the Warriors will be able to slow the game down.
Prediction This should really be a no contest for a much improved Wizards team. I think the Wiz will get into the paint early and often and win this one 96-87. NOTE: The Wizards will be wearing their orange throwbacks and the Warriors will be wearing their blue throwbacks.
Wizards win 101-95, this will be an up and down game, and the Wizards should put up a lot of points. All these guys go back and play their former team together, it will be an interesting game, and I'd like to see everyone light it up. I'm hoping Kwame can get into the 30's in his minute this game, he's been slowly playing better and better and should get the increase.
As much as Arenas/Jamison/Hughes are trying to play this game down, you can't tell me they don't want to torch their old club. I see us pulling it out big. Anybody know if any eastern team has pulled a winning road trip record when they've gone out west??
Let's Go Wizards. I Think We'll Beat Them. I Still Feel Chris Mullin, Great Player, Is One Of The Worse GM's In The League. Come On, Adonal Foyle For 40 Million? Pathetic.
At the half the score is 52-41 Washington. The indications from NBA.com's box score shows that Jamison came out trying to do too much. Arenas and Hughes are both having nice games..other than that no one for the Wizards are really showing up. Arenas- 14 pts (4-6 FGs, 4-4 FTs), 2 boards, 2 assists Hughes- 15 pts (6-9 FGs, 2-2 FTs), 5 boards, 1 assist Jamison- 6 pts (3-10 FGs, no FT attempts), 7 boards Lets keep it rolling in the second half boys... ------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Washington wins 103-101...One of the big three had a game winning lay up. Arenas won the game with a layup. I said penetration would be key for the Wizards, and I was proved right. Gilbert Arenas shot very well tonight, 8-13 from the floor and 11-16 from the FT line. Gilly ended up with 29 points Larry Hughes was 10-18 from the floor and hit a big shot within the final minute to give the Wizards the lead, and eventually let Arenas tie the game. Larry finished with 25 points Antawn Jamison had a bad night IMO, 8-23 from the floor. That is horrible for someone of his caliber. He should be shooting around 48% every night. I am disgusted with his play as of late. He did have 11 boards though. 18 points to finish the game. Kwame Brown did not have a good night at all, I think he is still being hobbled by that ankle. 5 TOs is not good, but he got to the free throw line 6 times, made 5 of them. The Warriors showed a lot of heart tonight, I thought they would roll over and die at the half when Washington was up. Jason Richardson led them with 26 points and Speedy Claxton chipped in 17.
Mr. Clutch

Quote:

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Gilbert Arenas drove the length of the floor, got past top Golden State defender Mickael Pietrus and scored an acrobatic layup with less than a second left to lift the Washington Wizards over the Golden State Warriors 103-101 on Monday night.
