Matee Ajavon returned to the floor with less than 30 seconds remaining Sunday afternoon and the Washington Mystics up by three against the Connecticut Sun. She hadn't seen the most playing time or scored many points, but in those waning moments she managed to corral a rebound, draw a foul, record a free throw and steal the ball with 7.9 seconds left. It was a fitting ending for a game in which Washington needed every one of its nine available players to execute with the utmost precision when called upon, whether for 30 seconds or 30 minutes. Playing without veteran guard Katie Smith, who sat out with a lower back strain, the Mystics put together perhaps their most complete all-around performance and picked up a 69-65 win over Connecticut at Verizon Center. "When we found out right before the game that Katie wasn't going to play, we all understood that we'd have to pick every part of our play up," said forward Crystal Langhorne, who paced the Mystics with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
