Lillard | McCollum | Leonard | Vonleh I still believe that one of these players outside Lillard will be dealt today.
Neil probably had an idea of what LA was going to do. Plan B was "in full swing" -- I don't remember which national writer tweeted this last month though.
Watch this be something we laugh about after Aldridge resigns and quotes "You all be trippin'! I always wanted to be here"
Rebuilding from what? One 1st round series win on a historical miracle in the last decade? Certainly they will take a step back but it's not like they were knocking on the door of a title. Purgatory is the worst place to be. Either be a contender, just a step away with a way to take that step, or get busy figuring out to get there.
What is rebuilding going to ultimately look like? Renounce all the FAs, and use the cap space to build a roster with depth. That seems Give Lillard the chance to take a step up and be in the discussion as best PG, maybe even MVP. Play Vonleh until he's a legit starter. Leonard gets his chance, too (I think at C). You've got $40M+ to sign a SG and SF. Maybe you don't compete this year, but you have a team with potential to be even better.
It's crazy how fast things change in the league now. Back in the day if you had a decent core to build around you could pretty much pencil in playoff appearances. Now it's year to year. 50 win seasons followed by a trip to the lottery are now a regularly occurring phenomenon. Last year it looked like Miami vs Indy were going to battle for the Eastern Crown every season. This year, it's the lottery for both. It's going to be a hard pill to swallow if that's us next year, but it won't be unprecedented.
Nope, it's all me. And it's not misleading at all. With Batum and Aldridge gone there is no way we make the playoffs. That means rebuild. We may have potential, but we're at least a couple of years away now.
I know it is unlikely, but the cap space left open if you don't resign the former starting lineup is huge. Enough to sign Love and Jordan? I know it isn't likely, but that is a lot of cash.
It's a lot of cash, but I don't think we sign either one of them. Jordan will re-sign with the Clips and Love to the Lakers.
Seems likely we're in a rebuild mode. I guess the main question is how long of a rebuild it is. One summer seems like a reasonable period. Get 'er done, Neil.
At least the Alflalo draft pick was lottery protected. Although I fear we will be just out of the lottery.
GS had only won 1 playoff series in 8 years before winning championship. They didn't even get out of first round last year.
