we are going to make a trade. I get the feeling that we are showcasing someone. Otherwise what the blazers are doing right now with miller/blake/bayless does not make sense from a numbers standpoint. You can clearly see that the numbers that bayless is putting up warrant more playing time. I am not sure who they are showcasing however. Is it bayless? are they pulling him to keep his numbers high? If it is miller or blake, that is a bad move because their numbers are not good right now. All I know is this.....Prichard and the coaches are taking a lot of heat for what they are not doing, but they are not stupid. Even when they do not make moves it is for a specific reason. It is easy in hindsight to second guess decisions that have been made. It we had an entirely healthy squad right now, we would probably be winning a lot of these games. We do not. No one could have predicted that. I do not think not making any moves before (fine use of the double negative) was the wrong decision at the time. Now we are forced to do it and I think the blazers will.

I think you are giving this team (mgmt and coaches) too much credit. If this is a showcase then they are doing a piss poor job of it for any of the point guards you mention.

I also have considered that maybe that is what they are doing. Of course they can't force Blake or Miller to perform well, but I think they are hoping if they play them enough that one of them will start performing and could be traded. Their best hope is that one of the contenders will suffer a really serious injury at PG, and need to make a trade.

I would love to think that we are going to make a trade, but KP's track record says anything but.

I know we often see moves or non-moves that we find odd, but they have done a very good job assembling this team and I find it hard to believe that they are complete morons. I do believe that they are working on something. Everyone on here wants a quick move for a amazing player and it may just not be available to us right now. Prichard is not always going to be able to make the lopsided moves that he has been able to do in the past. And what nate is or is not doing could be a result of what is going on behind the scenes. We get frustrated because we do not know everything that is going on behind the scenes, but that would not be possible. What goes on is often a well choreographed poker game and we are going to have to be patient right now and see what plays out. This is an organization with a lot of opinions and generally it seems like decisions are made on a consensus basis. I can assure you that they have the same numbers we have and they know what the deal is. There is a reason that bayless is not getting more playing time, we just do not know what it is.

p.s. the problem with showcasing is that it does not always go as planned.

Whenever a player is playing badly and gets to play more than we think they should be, we are showcasing them. Yet, a trade never happens.

Just the opposite, they get to keep playing till eventually they start playing better and the cries start subsiding. We'll see if Miller gets traded but I suspect Blake will keep playing and eventually start knocking down shots.

It may be Bayless who we are showcasing by limiting his minutes so that he has a better opportunity to succeed and looks more valuable.

I can't imagine anyone thinking it is Blake we are showcasing.

Blake has an expiring contract, so it really doesn't matter how well he plays.

I just said I did not think they were complete morons.......

we cannot control the players we are showcasing. We have to hope that all perform well but that may not always be the case.

dont tell these guys that we are showcasing... they like having a team who cant score, cant defend, and has no shot at the playoffs. that way they can all stroke bayless and blame blake.

has blake sucked? yes. but the problem is lack of talent at the Sf and backup pf spots. Get a legit SF and banger... you have yourself a good team. until then... its below average. we are the only team in the nba who could screw up andre miller. its simply unreal. the guy has been a greta player everywhere... here he looks like hes never played pg in his life. its just so sad how bad this season has become.

The only player that would actually need "showcasing" on our team is Bayless. You don't play Blake or Miller to showcase them. Everyone in the league knows what they can do. They have been in the league for long enough. They have a track record teams can go off of.

And if you did, Blakes value just went down. He hasn't played this badly in a few years. So I guess we can say he "peaked" last year? :tsktsk:

That too. If you're looking to trade him, you better bench him soon.

With the way Blake is playing, Bayless is off any trade block IMO, so is Miller. Blake expires if we were to trade Miller for a post or a 3, then we would only have Bayless for next year and have to find another PG. With the way Blake is playing do you really want to sign him to a deal? I wouldn't

Anyone thinking that renouncing Travis and Blake on June 30 and having an extra 8 million in free agency would've made a difference in our success this year?

Or perhaps trading them to a team needing to shed a cool 10M or so in salaries draft night?

It's not hindsight if you said it at the time, right?

I felt this way then and still do.

But hey, we converted RLEC into an aging point guard whose game is the exact opposite of what Portland plays. Who knew that would be a bad idea?

I do think someone should sit bayless down and tell him what is going on so he quits tweeting about it. I think they sometimes keep too much from the players.

Showcasing doesn't happen. Teams have scouts, videos, stats, and pretty much whatever they need to evaluate any player in the league.

If they're not a surprise rookie, or maybe someone coming back from a major injury, showcasing just doesn't make sense.
