http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/ Man, I loved Van Exel in the playoffs 2 years ago coming off the bench. He is gonna be great here I think. Any thoughts? Should he start?
I like the trade on Portland's behalf. I don't think he should start, he should come off the bench, where he is more effective IMO. This'll help keep Telfair's playing time low so he doesn't have to play major minutes his rookie year, so they don't get abused at the pointguard position defensively.
Wasn't Van Exel whining that if he can't be in texas next season he will retire? Maybe there will be a Van Exel,Abdur-Rahim trade to Dallas?
Looks like Telfair won't play much this year. Dissapointing for me, because I wanted to see him be a contributer to Portland. On the bright spot, Portland wanted to get under the cap by the end of this season, and they will accomplish that, with Stoudamire and NVE's contracts coming off the books.

He doesnt care who he is playing for he will retire if he does not get an offer from a team in texas. So its pretty bad in that regards you got a player that doesnt care about your team.
So you guys got Van Exal, but you better not take Hassell from us! You made an offer, we BETTER match it.
Maybe they can trade Nick to Houston Rockets for Jim Jackson and Eric Patokishy (sp). Blazers needs shooters.

If the player is playing under a one-year contract and will have Larry Bird or Early Bird rights at the end of the contract, he can't be traded at all. " http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#79 If you guys haven't gotten the low down on NVE, I can give it to you. The good: Despite anything you might hear from the media, Nick is a great teammate and a solid locker room presence. His knees may be shot, but the main reason he missed so many games last year is because he kept trying to come back before he was ready. The bad: As a Warrior fan, the thing I was looking forward to the most when the Warriors got him was finally having a clutch scorer. Unfortunately, Nick missed A LOT more key shots than he made. In general, I was very disappointed with his play. And like I said above, his knees are pretty much shot right now. But, I expect he was never fully healthy when he played, so hopefully he's healthier now and will return to his old form. The ugly: I think his main value right now is the massive amount of cap space he can create for a team. But you guys have so many expiring contracts, there isn't really much that's special about Nick. I'd expect you to trade at least a few of them before the February trading deadline. Between NVE, SAR, and Stoudemire, you guys should be able to acquire at least one big salary while still being free to pay Randolph and Ratliff whatever they want. You guys definately have the talent to get back into the playoffs. But since I don't expect most of the guys on this year's roster to be on the team next year, I think it will be very interesting to see how this team comes together. Good luck next year, hopefully we'll see you guys in the playoffs.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting iceman:</div><div class="quote_post">this trade IMO sucks becose portland have now 3 super pg :S</div> Who? Stoudamire, Van Exel and? Besides, those two aren't even super PG's.
Now all we need to do is trade him  now really the Blazers should start looking for a trade for him,SAR and even DA as long as Van Axel is hyped they should make the most of it. At the end its a good trade because Van Axel is easier to trade than Dale davis and even if they'll play him and than re-sign him for 5 million per year it will be good cuz Davis would not re-sign,he almost asked a trade this year and i read that he lost a shooting contest to coach mo' so i think Stephania will cover his Stats...
