I'm not a big fan of Ray, but I would rather have him than Carter. Vince Carter is the only superstar quality talent in the NBA that I could see retiring tomorrow. There isn't an athlete in the game today w/ as much/more talent who has less of a drive to be great or win. Ray wants to win, but like Kobe I think he wants to win w/o any competition for the title of the go-to-player. I think that he will try to use all the leverage that he has w/in this organization to have things done his way--and in saying that I still think that he will leave as a free agent.
Kidd wants a trade apparently, and Rod THorn loves Ray Allen. Add to that Kidd has a tight friendship with Howard Schultz, and I'm putting two and two together and not sure what total I'm getting. I don't know if I'd want to take Kidd's contract though, especially with his knees being dodgy.

Kidd is all-world but with his getting older you have to look at the possibility that he may only have one or two fully healthy years left in him. Us 30+ old bastards are fragile. But the question needs to be asked if a deal were worked out sending Ray to NJ and bring Kidd to Seattle would you want to pull the trigger?
Flip, Lewis, Radmanovic, and Fortson being run around by Kidd.. Sounds fun I'd do the trade just to have something to look forward to next season, really.
Jason Kidd is an aging guard beginning to have chronic knee problems with five years left on a max contract. You do not do that trade under any circumstances. The Sonics have no Richard Jefferson or Kenyon Martin. I shudder just thinking about it.

I don't see why you would want to,I would rather turn the reins over to Ridnour and see if he can develop (well after he comes back from the injury) You guys gave backcourt (ridnour, flip) and a front court(collison, shard & radmanovic) with lots of potential. Bringing Kidd in could upset the whole balance.
We don't have the personnel to run w/ Jason Kidd, and his contract would enable us to get any quality help in the front court. No I wouldn't do this trade considering the reputation Kidd has of trying to strong arm management (and his wife). That said we must get compensation for Ray if he chooses to move elsewhere after this season.
^ That's a valid point. Just hear the things said about him by former Dallas owners - not pretty. They reckon he's the complete opposite off the court than his unselfish ways on it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> That said we must get compensation for Ray if he chooses to move elsewhere after this season.</div> That's really the only reason I would make a blockbuster deal with Ray is to get compensation. Trading and getting older however isn't really worth it. I'd rather have us trade Ray for young talent since thats the direction this franchise is going anyways.
