I think that physical fitness is always good when fighting illness. My immune system is, unfortunately, subpar - so I usually get a little sick every winter. My first semester in college I was happy to be out of the army, did very little physically and I got sick during that semester and it was one of the hardest illnesses I ever had. I have resumed fitness after that - and have tried to stay somewhat fit ever since (I am certainly not as fit as I once was) - and I have found a correlation between my ability to recover from the winter blahs when I get them and how fit I am.

So, frankly, I am not surprised about that - it certainly seems to match my experience.

Of course, there are cases when it is not good - if you are really ill, your best bet is just to let your body rest. I certainly learned that - I was trying to train for a Marathon and was running stupid distance every week - unfortunately, I have an auto-immune disease that was not identified until that time - and since it was hard to diagnose - I continued to run until I got to a place where I had the sweats and chills as if I had the Malaria during an Africa trip from the 1800s - my dog would not get near me since she thought I was going to die.

Once I was diagnosed - I was told to stay in bed for a week and not do anything - and very slowly resume any fitness regime I had.

I beleive there is a direct correlation of mind and body when it comes to health. I believe that those who worry about getting sick leave themselves more vulnerable than if they didn't think about it. You are forcing your mind and body to expend energy on something that has not yet come to fruition, leaving less strength available to combat the actual threat, thus leaving it easy for a virus or disease to get hold.
If we just excersize and eat right, most of us would have minimal flu and cold issues.

Cuomo is in 100 times better shape than I am. I'll probably croak in a week if I get this.

I was making fun of him because everyone that gets better has some reason that made it so.

I've put on 30 or 40 since last summer just from drinking. I had to go get bloodwork done to get a discount on my health insurance.

45 years old, 345 lbs and my BMI was obviously too high but my blood pressure was fine and my blood work was perfect.

I eat a little too much now and drink way too often (one large drink most nights)

My wife is a personal trainer part time and she's lost weight since the shutdown. She thinks it is muscle and it could be. She had the sled you push around up to 7 45s on it.

Hopefully you never get it and if you do, hopefully you do not croak from it. Supposedly, if you do not have lung issues and a working immune system - you are likely to be OK.

FWIW - I do not like gyms, never did - so my fitness regime is pretty simple (I am just into my 50s) - I try to walk at least 5K steps a day, but really try to hit the 10K steps a day mark if I have the time, and if I can - I do some weights (we have an old bowflex machine), stationary bike or work in the yard (cutting trees is a hell of an fitness routine). Add trying to somewhat watch what I eat and not drinking too much - and I am not too bad. I am 40 lbs from where I was when I was running long distance, but I was probably too skinny at the time (which my Doctor told me) - I could lose 20lbs - it is usually easier for me to do that in the summer (that's my normal weight fluctuation) - hopefully, we get to move around soon - because hiking is usually really good for my fitness.

I ride my heavy ass mountain bike. I bought a lighter faster buck but I drank another 30lbs on and started breaking spokes.

I feel like I've lost some but I ain't getting on a scale until it is obvious

I had actually gotten into the best gym routine I had been in since being married was starting to shed weight (had been going for a few months) when they shut down. I am so out of shape already... I've got an exercise bike I've been using but it mostly feels like nothing.

I just spent $2200 on a home gym. The adjustable bench arrived. The squat rack and bench as well. Just waiting on the weights as the final piece. Ordered mirrors and matting as well. Once the gyms open back up I’ll still probably go there a couple times a week. But I love doing heavy squats multiple times a week and what better place to do them than my garage rocking out to Pantera

It's similar. Not exactly the same thing though.
