Just saw on our Dallas area forum that Webber was sent to Philly? Is this true? Here is what I saw... "Webber is gone, it is official I live near Sacto. They get 3 scrubs in return, including Corliss Williamson." "It is for Corliss, Skinner, and Thomas. Yuck! Sacto also threw in Bradley and Barnes. Sacto will not be the 5 seed. "
I just heard the same. As a Philly fan I am estatic. This is the player Allen Iverson has been looking for.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ruff_Rider:</div><div class="quote_post">DONE... all it needs is the L to approve it What a stupid trade for the kings.</div> To me it seems like the Kings got raped. Sure, they have some depth now, but they got nothing in return really. You would've thought they would have at least push for a draft pick or something for someone as talented as Webber. Good move by the 76ers, the division is up for grabs between them and the Nets now.
I think people are pretty quick to say its trash for the Kings. You have to think about what the Kings lacked and what they had plenty of prior to the trade. The Kings suffered badly on defense with Webber on the floor because of his inability to jump and rotate quickly. The starter they received doesnt have that problem.Kenny Thomas can also shoot well from the freethrow line extended which means he'll fit the offense well. The other players they received,Skinner and Corliss, are also guys that dont have problems defending and protecting the glass for rebounds.Basically the Kings have played very well w/o Webber and sacrificed some offense for more defense and more ability to rebound.I think many will be surprised.
I do think Philly got the better end of this trade, but mostly because there was alot of room for improvement for the Sixers.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">I do think Philly got the better end of this trade.</div> <font color="DarkRed">(edited: funny, but not appropriate)</font> This is the best trade in years for me, because it helps my favorite team (76ers) and screws the team I hate most (Queens) God loves Philly afterall!
Yes I agree I really don't think the Kings are going to be that bad afterall. They play fine without Webber, and now they add some hard nosed defensive players(Corliss, Kenny)Plus Brian Skinner can put up 10 poinst if given time. All these 3 guys can average in double figures, so not that bad for Sactown. BUT GREAT FOR PHILLY
omg. great trade for the sixers! im pretty sure that a tandem of AI and Webber will kill the east for sure!
Webber has been playing pretty good this year, considering. I love this trade for Philly, Webber is that other big name player they needed, especially since Glen Rob came and did nothing but bring the sixers down (one of the biggest let downs in nba history IMO) The sixers gain without really losing anything, chalk one up for SIXERS on this one.
i've tried, but i can't put this into words, so i have and illustration of the effect this trade has on the 76ers.
Sac town got rid of some extra baggage for players that they need. Everyone thinks its a better trade for the sixers, just because the biggest name is going their way. I think this is a good trade for both teams, sac has plenty of firepower, so they traded an offensive weapon for d and rebounding. Whats wrong with that? Its smart, plus, sac's offense would go south when CWebb was in the game. The sixers still don't stand a chance against Miami (as long as shaq comes back) or Detroit. And if Artest can come back I think Indy is a way better team. If I was philly, I wouldn't wanna face Cleveland, Washington, or even Chicago for that matter. The East has improved greatly over last year, and I don't think alot of people realize that.
Funny graphics again def, but let's keep everything in perspective. Philadelphia is still no match for the Pistons, the Heat (with Shaq), or the Knicks ( ). Webber will need to develop some fast chemistry with AI he's not used to anyone dominating the ball like that, and also needs to adjut to a whole different system. It's not as easy as you think. Maybe a better analogy would be the Atantic division on the floor.
trade How could the Kings not even get robinson's expiring contract in the deal? Giving up a star and not even getting an expiring contract? And if the kings just wanted someone to eat his contract without giving something back why didnt they trade him to the knicks?
I guess we ought to see how the trade turns out. There have been many of these "Why would you do that" kind of trades that end up becoming very sucessful while the other side who was thought to get the better end of the deal, starts to struggle. We should see. I want to see Webber play tonight against the Knicks either way it's still a wrap especially with us playing at the Garden!
