<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Webber has hinted at retirement more than once since last season ended, but I'm hearing now that he's much more interested in playing next season than not playing. On two conditions. Webber, 34, is apparently only willing to re-sign with his hometown Detroit Pistons -- who lost to Cleveland one step short of Webber's first-ever trip to the NBA Finals -- or join the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are giving Webber a good look, too, since he'd instantly become the best passer they have if they signed him.</div> ESPN <div align="center"></div>Hopefully Cuban can make this happen. Webber would take care of our post offensive game weve been missing and provide some vet leadership(maybe even helpin Dirk out with some moves)
Would be a great addition for them. He is solid, but I would expect not to much playing time. He has lost his movement, and is gunna have trouble keeping up with Amare, IMO.
I was actually surprised how effective Webber still was last season with Detroit. He can still score in the post and rebound. Playing in the zone defense hid a lot of his defensive shortcomings. I don't think Dallas needs him though. Dirk & Howard play the majority of the minutes at forward and they just drafted Fazekas and re-signed Devean George. There's just aren't any quality minutes available for Webber. I think a better place for Webber would be Houston. He had his best year's in Adelman's system and the Rockets are in desperate need of size in the frontcourt. I also wouldn't mind the Lakers giving him a look.
If Webber loses some of the extra weight he was lugging around, it could be an interesting match. If this tricks Cuban into thinking he doesn't need a distributor at the point, though, the Mavs will still not be quite ready for prime time.
