Well, I think Clinton will be a very good Sec of State. She's smart & tough. As to Richardson, he hot his post by stabbing his old friends (Clintons) in the back. He's a political leper.
Ummm ... it stands to reason that Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson will have drastically different ideas and goals and strategies than Condi Rice and Carlos Gutierrez. I'm confused at how people would construe that as "not a change." -Pop
Hillary and Condi are both women, and Bill and Carlos are both Latino. That's not change, that's more of the same. barfo
The only change a President can effect is who they appoint to their cabinet. After that, their job is over. Obama has clearly proven that he will do nothing different, because he's appointed people we've heard of before! Unless Obama does something else over the next four to eight years, his Presidency will have to be judged a failure.
I'm pretty sure the righties were going to complain about his cabinet picks regardless of who they were.
I've got no real beefs with his picks. In my book, he's entitled to choose who he wants and to get them approved by the senate. It does speak volumes about "change" being a lie tho.
It's hilarious because the same people saying "omg wat happnd to change?!?!" are the same ones who would be flipping out if he was picking a bunch of unknowns for such high powered positions.
I remember making several posts about "change" being "change back" (and to something not all that great). It's ok, tho. I'm used to the democrats lying their asses off to get elected and then people apologizing for them after it's clear they lied. It's hilarious.
If people wanted a Clinton third term, wouldn't they have voted for Hillary? Barack Obama was promising "change" and "hope" from the politics of the past. Instead, he's offering nothing more than a carbon copy of the Clinton Administration, with the copy setting just a little darker.
The differences between Hillary and Obama were very minor. They had the same ideas, just different details, and only on a few issues. Obama won because he campaigned better.
The Clinton administration was the most scandal ridden in my lifetime - even worse than Nixon. Why bring any of those people back? Richardson is great, tho.
I don't know why he's doing it, but shouldn't we wait til he actually starts governing before we proclaim him Clinton 2.0? BTW, I said all along that Obama was running the same campaign as Bill Clinton's in 92, so none of this is surprising me at all.
Yes, change from the tremendously unpopular Bush administration. If you were expecting something more, then I don't know what to tell you.
