Clingan is proof that there’s 7’2” and then there’s 7’2”. Allow me to explain.
Clingan has a short head and no neck. His shoulders are a good three or four inches further up his height than a center who is 7’2” with a long neck or long head. Add in his freakishly long arms and it doesn’t matter if he can’t get off the ground, he’s going to block like he’s 7’5”. What a find.

It was a thing of beauty when SGA tried to get a shot off on him and then was like nope! having to contort to simply make a pass.

Clingan is looking much better than Sarr, he's a better interior defender, much better rebounder and finisher inside, he's even shooting better.

Love DC but he needs to stop getting stripped so much when he gets a rebound. He has 10-inch hands.

I’m not even worried about who Clingan looks better or worse than. He’s had a great start to his rookie season and I’m over the moon with the pick.

There’s been the long standing Mantra that it takes longer for bigs to adjust to and develop in the NBA. So having Clingan make the impact he’s been making in these games so early in his career is very promising.

He needs to improve his finishing a bit. I think more power will come with age.

That's exactly the play that made me really sit up. I'd been keeping track of how shooters were doing against him, and it was scary good (shooters were 2-14 last night against his direct coverage), but after he did *that*, I noticed players passing out of his coverage like he was an elite defender. They obviously knew he was having an effect. If Clingan plays 32 minutes, we win that OKC game.

Maybe Chauncey's on board with the tank after all...

It’s the explanation that feels most logical.

Houston is one of the teams that passed on Clingan.

All he needs now is Michael Jordan's offensive set!

His ability to tip rebounds up and back to himself, without getting whistled for an over the back is super impressive. Seems like he can get to just ab out every ball underneath. I feel like I was all over the place in the draft, but am really happy with what we've gotten so far.

Technically true but they got the #1 ranked player in the draft who's the furthest archetype possible from Clingan.

I liked the idea. Hang onto DA to mentor, and even protect DC for a season, maybe even 2. However, what I've seen recently is a Clingan who is ready enough right now. By the deadline, DA will be obsolete. Unfortunately, my guess is that DA has few suitors.

So far, DC has had games where...
    • He almost had a triple double, but "only" had 8 blocks. Blazers win.
    • He had a 19 rebound game in 28 minutes, 8 in the 1st quarter. He would have had more but coach went small down the stretch. Oh yeah, he also had 3 blocks. Blazers win.
    • Despite given pauper's minutes (17/game, and was 13/game before DA went down), he's had 17 straight games with a block to start his career - 4th best ever. He's still going. If he gets a block in each of the next 3 games, he'll become 3rd best ever.
    • Victor Wemby is one of the greatest shot blockers of all time. He is averaging a ridiculous 4.1 blocks/36. However, DC is leading the league with 4.6 blocks/36.

It’s funny seeing Jordan on that list. I was surprised he was up there for blocks, even with him being the GOAT
