We should sign Meyers Leonard to use as spare parts for Clingan.

This is why 3 centers are always needed. At least for teams who don't want to tank.

Good for Nico. He's not a prized Blazers CENTER.

    I was curious...

    Portland C payroll (4 C's) - 55.4M

    OKC (2) - 41M
    GSW (2) - 10M
Hou (3) - 27M (goes up to 41M next season)
    Mem. (3) - 31M
    Suns (2) - 20M
    LAL (3) - 48M (AD - 43M)
    LAC (2) - 14M
    Den (3) - 58.6M (Jokic - 51.4M)
    Dal. (3) - 22.4M
    SAS (3) - 31.5M
    Min. (2) - 58M (Gobert - 44M)
    Utah (3) - 11M
    N.O. (3) - 7M

Clev. (2) - 31M (Mobley starts at PF and plays 50% of minutes at C)
    Bos (4) - 43M (Porzingis - 29M)
    Orl. (3) - 32M
    NYK (4) - 67M (KAT - 49M; Robinson hasn't played this year)
    Milw. (2) - 23M
    Mia. (3) - 41M (Adebayo - 35M)
    Ind. (4) - 28M
    Brk. (1 + 2) - 34M (Claxton 28M; Trendan Watford & Clowney are the backup C's)
    Chi. (2) - 28M (Vucevic 20M)
    Det (2) - 20M
    Atl. (2) - 36M
    Cha. (3) - 11M
    Tor. (2) - 21M
    76ers (2) - 56.4M (Embiid - 51.4M)
    Wash. (3) - 34M

Blazers have the 5th highest C payroll. And all 4 teams with higher C payrolls have superstars at starting C. Well, 3 of the teams; Porzingis isn't a superstar and isn't healthy too often

now, a lot of teams have rookie scale C's. But so does Portland with Clingan. And a lot of teams have a couple of vet minimum C's; Blazers have Reath. And quite a few teams have PF's that can play C like Mobley in Cleveland or Markkanen in Utah. Maybe Timelord could do that, but it's debatable, and of course, he's almost never healthy Having 3 C's seems the most common roster. Portland is the only team in the West with 4. But I didn't account for TW contracts and several teams stash a C among their TW's

Portland is obviously out of balance in both salary and impact. But almost all of that is due to Ayton. And supposedly, their roster is a work in progress

It's easier to blame the staff instead of the players.

Then why put a knee brace on him?

If it's injured twice, a second time enough to warrant review in the locker room and then a knee brace. It seems pretty obvious the staff should lean towards a side of caution with a 7'2" rookie who hasn't played 20 games yet and kept him out. It's a season where we don't care at all about wins, losses, or being competitive.

Sending him back into that game is playing with fire and we got lucky. But it's a major red flag the training staff made a dangerous mistake.

Did Batum go to the locker room to get any of those injuries reviewed and have a brace put on?

That's the action that makes then putting him back into the game a major red flag.

It sure looks like Clingan is the Damian Lillard of defense which is to say he really seems to take his craft seriously. If he improves year over year, that five year window starts to open pretty wide.

    Awesome news!

Maybe Ayton's finger "contusion" (which is a bruise lol) will act up and he will need to sit out multiple games soon. Will be a dream come true.

It will be great to have Clingan back. I might even watch another game.

Also: patently hilarious that they're speedrunning Clingan's return ASAP while Rob has been held out for two weeks for a concussion. Ayton was held out for a week for a sprained finger, etc.

Yeah, concussions are nothing to screw around with. I can just imagine the posts around here about incompetent Blazers medical staff if he returned too early and then keeled over on the court.

Yeah they can end your career, so want to make sure your back 100% and completely symptom free. It now requires clearing a protocol, so its not up to just the team or player.

There was a college girl who had a few concussions last year and after many months wasn't able to return to form then ended up committing suicide. There have been multiple NFL players that sat out for over a month this year from a concussion. Rob has only been out 2 weeks as of yesterday so its totally fine if he needs some more time.
