<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Former NBA player Ron Mercer surrendered to police on Wednesday to face a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a scuffle in a strip club in April, police said.

Police said Mercer's friend, 34-year-old Robert Edward Johnson, was also charged with felony aggravated assault for stabbing a bouncer at the club in the same incident.

The pair got into a verbal argument with a dancer at Anthony's Show Place on April 21 and were asked to leave by the security guard, Keith Battle.

A fight broke out among the three men and Johnson admitted to police that he stabbed the bouncer in the right side and shoulder with a knife. Battle was not seriously hurt.

Another bouncer, William Beels Jr., was punched in the face by Mercer, police said.</div>
Yelling at strippers and fighting in clubs, alright Ron!

Poor Ron...I really thought he was going to be something special in this league. He had a pretty good rookie year with the Celtics and some nice scoring seasons on horrible chicago bulls teams. I actually thought he would make a somewhat important comeback with the Nets too a few years back. Just another guy who couldn't stay healthy down the stretch and this is not a story the NBA needs right now...or professional sports for that matter.

He sucked. That bouncer might be the first shot he's hit in years.</p>

the frustrating part for Celtics fans is that they were a ping pong ball away from Tim Duncan....that makes Mercers failings sting just a bit more....</p>

It was never really discussed, but Mercer was dramatically different after his knee got hurt toward the end of his first year with the Bulls. OK, he wasn't gonna be a star or anything before that, but still, he was ok and after that he was pitiful.
