I was wondering how the players stack up with respect for having a well-rounded game so I looked at their Contribution Points (points + rebounds + Assists * 1.5 + Blocks * 1.5 + Steals * 2). I only looked at their positive contributions and wanted to see what percentage came from each category. I'll show each category and who gets the greatest percentage of contribution points in each category. Points: 1. CJ - 63.9% 2. Ant - 63.3% 3. Dame - 60.0% 4. Hood - 59.9% 5. Carmelo - 58.2% 6. Trent Jr - 55.2% 7. Collins - 52.9% 8. Bazemore - 46.9% 9. Whiteside - 43.3% 10. Little - 42.6% 11. Tolliver - 42.3% 12. Brown - 42.1% 13. Skal - 39..5% 14. Hoard - 38..9% 15. Wow. This is interesting. I figured Whiteside would have been miles ahead of everyone else in rebounds. Humm.... Gotta assume ÷by minutes played would change the numbers a bunch. Or would it? (Seriously asking- I don't know)
Think about the two ahead of Whiteside in rebounds. They A) don't get much time and B) don't have many other aspects to their game. Hassan is killing it in rebounds (see the who does what post) but as he also scores decently and blocks a ton of shots, rebounds do not account for as high a percentage of his overall contribution points as with others who are less full-featured so to speak. Gramps...
The lower percentage than you expect is because he contributes in other ways like blocks and points so rebounds isn’t a high percentage of his game.
Each game a player accumulates "Contribution points". This tells what percentage of their total contribution points come from what source. Using Dame for example, his contribution points come as follows: 60% from Points 25.3% from Assists 9.1% from Rebounds 4.3% from Steals 1.4% from Blocks Compare that to Whiteside: 43.3% from Points 37.5% from Rebounds 11.5% from Blocks 5.3% from Assists 2.4% from Steals Gramps...
I called this "Well Rounded" but if someone is more even across the categories, does that mean they are more even or that they are just mediocre in every category and not overtly good in any one (or two) categories?
