I was one of the fortunate few to attend the Community Day held at The New Wembley Stadium on Saturday 17th March and I must congratulate all concerned for producing what is a magnificent arena.

However, while "the great and good" may well be treated to the delights of the massive catering facilities, "the great unwashed" still have to endure 3rd World fayre.

According to the article on page 37 & 38 of the Souvenir Programme, Simon Dodson, MD of Stadium Caterers Delaware North Companies UK, promises, "We're not going to be serving a GBP.-2.00 pie, because it's rubbish and people don't want that. We will make sure it represents value for money".

I tried the catering fayre on offer and suggest it is excellent "value to money". For example,

Hot dog = an "imported" German Bockwurst served on a cold bun and presented in an attractive Wembley logo'd container, GBP.- 4.00. The hot dog is described on page 38 of the programme as "they're tasty, quick to make and easy for fans to hold". How thoughtful of Mr. Dobson.

Hot pies with "100% seasoned Scottish Beef", served in an attractive Wembley logo'd container, GBP.- 4.50.

Cheeseburger = a piece of cremated "meat", a slice of "cheese" and a dollop of "relish", once again served in an attractive Wembley logo'd container, GBP.- 5.00.

All of the above are also offered, in the programme as a "Meal Deal, which will represent added value". The "Meal Deal" is a jacket potato offered for an additional GBP.- 2.00.

I do not know how many attended Community Day but I can assure any fan that is going to the U21 match, that if you intend eating at Wembley don't expect to see much of the match.

Oh, and by the way, your pint of "possibly the best beer in the world" will set you back a cool GBP.- 3.50

I read this in a paper and what a rip off. I know football clubs charge more then the RRP but c'mon. Argyle charge 1.95 for a pie and 0.90 for a Hot chocolate. Why must Wembley charge sooooo high?

The prices are high because its in London & they need to cover the cost of the stadium! (which will take ages)

Its a stadium, not an arena!
