<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Arsene Wenger insists he does not want to join in with the extravagant Premier League summer spending. The Arsenal manager has been looking on as champions Manchester United have spent £48million and title rivals Liverpool have splashed out over £30million in comparison with the Gunners' £13.5million. Arsenal have been linked with new investment from American Stan Kroenke and Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone. However, Wenger says he is not interested in the opportunity to take part in any panic buying. Wenger insists that he would rather concentrate on nurturing talent already at Emirates Stadium. "It is unbelievable how much has been spent," Wenger told the Mirror. "It looks like the banks are being very generous this year! "I have been very surprised but then you know that there is a lot of money out there and on my front, I am just looking to develop the players we have here. "Just in central midfield, for example, we have Abou Diaby, Denilson, Cesc Fabregas, Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto. "In the wide positions we can play Alexander Hleb, Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky and Emmanuel Eboue. "All these players are on their way up. They are not over the hill. "Their level is still rising and they are getting better and better." A number of other Premier League clubs, including London rivals Tottenham and West Ham, have also spent big as they prepare for the new season but Wenger does not believe this will necessarily make them better teams. "The challenge is the same," Wenger added. "They can only play 11 players at the start of the game. "And it is not necessarily the case that because they spend £50m that they are a better team."</div> He doesn't really need to spend that much, got most of the positions covered with a few good youngsters
He's right, they don't need to spend a lot of money to build on their squad and with just 13.5mil spent they've got some quality players in. And he's definitely right about the last sentence, not needing to spend 50mil to be the better team.
Exactly why does Wenger need to 'panic buy'. Rafa is just using what he's got straight away when he should wait and possibly save more cash for better players. Voronin who?

It isnt called panic buying, panic buying is when you buy all around at the close of the transfer window. The only reason Arsene is saying this is because he cannot attract big name players to Arsenal anymore. There is not one Arsenal player that is a major player. United have Rooney and Ronaldo, Chelsea have Lampard and Drogba and now Liverpool have Torres and Gerrard.

I still think Wenger needs to pull in a world class player. Also I think during the premier league break and the departure of Henry has made Arsenal fans get super hyped over Fabregas and over-rating him.

I actually think that arsenal can bring a big player to Emirates, but I dont think thats Wenger's attitude. Arsenal must have alot of money since they dont overspend on players every season, so money is not a factor, its wengers mentality to develop instead of buying.
a team doesn't exactly need world class players. as long as the club has a good manager to bring the players closer together and play better as a team. there is not much difference between say rooney and rosicky. you would class rooney as being a world class player but not rosicky and yet there isn't much difference between the two. when you get to professional football everyone is going to be fantastic.

Don't know what you are on about there. And the difference between United and Chelsea, compared to Arsenal and Liverpool in the last couple years has been having 'world class players'. Looking what Ronaldo and Drogba did last year in the prem. You need individual brilliance aswell and Liverpool have done this with Babel and Torres. Arsenal, with Henry gone, need a big signing to be serious next season.
Rosicky and Rooney? WTF have you been smoking? Whatever it is, SLAP the person who gave it to you. Arsenal now have 1 person to rely on and thats the overrated Fabregas. I'm saying he's overrated because the media overhype him and are making him out to be Arsenal's saviour. 1 player doesn't make a squad, but with Arsenal dropping off their most experienced players each season.. who is going to guide them into a top 4 finish? Maybe this season Arsenal will get a rude awakening like Bayern Munich.

Arsenal are going to stuggle to bring players to their team because they dont have and 'superstar' or 'world class' players. And dont say Fabregas is world class because he isnt. And Max Van Persie isnt better than Rooney...
Untill Wenger leaves, Arsenal wont have a World Class player in their team. Arsenal will do a Bayern Munich this season, they will fall and end up being overtaken by Tottenham maybe even another team like 'Boro, Pompey or Everton.. maybe even all 3. But World Class players around the world would be SUICIDAL to join a team full of school boys. Gilberto Silva and Lehmann are two players who will be retiring soon and the experience levels drop in Arsenal with only Toure and Gallas left. Arsenal will enter a crisis stage and it will be too late to do anything about it.

Wayne Rooney: 14 Goals, 13 Assists Robin Van Persie: 11 Goals, 7 Assists Who's to say RVP would score in every single game he missed through an injury? The fact is, Wayne Rooney is a better striker than RVP. The media hyped Rooney as Englands WC saviour, but they failed to realise that he was injured.
Arsene Wenger's Arsenal ended their Austrian training camp with a 1-0 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg. Doesn't mean much but all the signs are pointing to a disaster Arsenal season.

Rooney is good, but not god!...looking at last seasons stats, RVP had better numbers in games than Rooney. Rooney is just Englands Child, they'll hype'em up to death. Considering our great comeback last game against the Mancs sparked by none other than RVP.
