I look up and we are in the 7th seed...after playing absolutely horrible in the month of January we are still in the 7th seed. It's ridiculous. 4.5 games out of the 6th seed, 5 games out of the 5th seed. If we get to either 5 or 6 we bypass having to play Boston or Detriot in the first round. Now that being said...Nenad is coming back, Stromile Swift is coming...are frontcourt will be VERY IMPROVED...Marcus Williams is looking better and Antione Wright has been playing much better lately. I think Thorn may look at all this and say "fine if nobody wants to blow me away for Kidd then we'll see if we get lucky come playoff time. I'm not saying we are gonna win a championship but I think second round is within reach...which makes me feel Thorn will not rebuild. I'm hoping Im wrong...cause I would love to rebuild for the next 2-3 seasons and actually assemble a championship team...but I think Thorn is gonna keep Kidd.
I wouldn't be surprised if they held on to him til the offseason. You might see some teams make a "The Lakers got Pau, so we need to do something" move now. But after the playoffs, there will probably be a handful of teams thinking they are one piece away...and at that time, throwing in any draft picks would be able to have a more definite value
A lot of people will say that another second round outing is pointless, and another example of how Rod Thorn is doing a horrible job. Personally, while I acknowledge that you "play to win the game" (and the whole enchilada), my affection for the Nets doesn't just happen during 14 days out of the year (two 7-game series ~~ 2nd round). Rather, having a generally winning team to follow is enjoyable enough so that I'm not tearing my hair out if we don't win rings every year. That being said, the year has been anything but enjoyable to watch for the most part; anything but substantial success in the playoffs will not cause me to change my feelings about trading Kidd and Carter.
I have to agree. I have a gut feeling that isn't true but I'm hoping that Kidd just demanded a trade to wake up this team. We picked up Swift and maybe picked up some other players and then we compete.
I don't think a deal will get done by the deadline but I also don't expect to see Kidd with the team next year.
I have a feeling he may be here for the season, as I've said before, but universe, I don't know if he said it to wake the team up. When he talked to thorn after the demand, he still said he wanted to be moved. It's too obvious at this point. BUT I hope it wakes Thorn up, and gets the wheels grinding with Kiki. Swift is a player Kidd would like to play with- not an all star or anything, but someone who can run the floor with him. That's all Kidd asks for really. If you can run the floor with Kidd, he'll make you a better player. Now, trading RJ or VC, which Thorn doesn't mind doing to keep Kidd...

That will lead to an early exit playing either Boston or The Pistons. I understand how you feel about the Nets and I feel the same my only point is if we are going to be a team that continues to lose in the playoffs why not rebuild for the future. A winning team is okay but winning in the post is where it counts.
