Once we finally get a starting PG, we'll still need a backup big man and another shooter off the bench...i have no clue as to who our starting PG will be, nor who our backup big man would be...in my world, I would have D-Jones starting and sign Keon Clark as a backup...however, as for the designated shooter, I would love to see Wesley Person as a Rocket...he's the epitome of a pure shooter and is lights out...this would also enable us to package Piatkowski in another deal, maybe to pull in a decent big man and/or starting PG...but I would like to see Person, who likely wouldnt demand much in money, on our squad...

Is he a free agent? Even if he is, I don't have much interest in him. He is basically a black Piatkowski, whose defense is also nothing to be proud of. He can create for himself better, but I hardly see him getting more minutes than Pike did under Van Gundy. I don't really see the need for a designated shooter, since we already have Pike who can shoot, and Nachbar who figures to get some minutes. Also, we'll be getting Adrian Griffin back from injury. All three could fill the minutes when McGrady or Jackson rest. I'd rather see us split our MLE between Mike James and Vin Baker or Keon Clark, although I question the latter's ability to play center in the Western conference.

i agree with trip, we don't need wesley person, we already have pike. for backup big man, pick up tony massenburg. rockets can probably pick him up on a veterans minimum contract, and he's good for 10 mins a game to back up Yao. Then trade for Chucky Atkins to play the point.

The Rockets needs to do something about Piatkowski, deal him or something... he's supposedly a pure shooter but he didn't really knock down many shots last season. I can see Nachbar being really good next season, and he can shoot pretty well. so instead of having pike on the bench, we can trade him and get someone else.

Pike's inactivity has caused his trade value to drop. His flaws were also exposed as a player who can't play a lick of defense, lacks the ability to create his own shot, and a veteran whose savvy still can't earn him minutes. If he dedicates himself to defense next year while not losing any of his three-point accuracy, I can see him being a key contributor as T-Mac's primary backup.

I dont think the Rockets would need Person, yeah he cant shoot but he is old and eventuall when your older your sahot tends to go down because your legs are weaker.

They could find a different player on the market if they need a shooter, maybe I guy like Jon Barry from the Nuggets he is a solid vet who can still shoot and play defense, maybe they should go after him.
