    West Calls Season "Gratifying"

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Grizzlies president Jerry West picked up the phone about a month ago and contacted Phoenix Suns president and general manager Bryan Colangelo.

"I told him that they should be proud of what they've done," West said.

OK, now that they've taken care of the pleasantries ...

"If we can recapture our enthusiasm, aggressiveness and more important, our passion, we should be a match for Phoenix," West said Tuesday as the Grizzlies prepared for the regular-season finale tonight against Dallas.

"We've got to get back to playing this game the way it's supposed to be played -- with energy and with our hearts. We're going to be a big underdog (against the Suns) but I've often said that's when the greatest results can be achieved."

The eighth-place Griz will begin their first-round playoff series on the road against the top-seeded Suns at 9:30 p.m. CDT Sunday. No dates were released for the rest of the series.

It's easy, though, to discern just what West is counting on for the Griz to challenge the run-and-gun Suns. </div>
