<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Eagles' Westbrook (foot) likely out rest of preseasonESPN.com news serviceshttp://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2550626Acutely aware of what early-season injuries can do to his football team, Eagles coach Andy Reid seems to be taking a cautious approach in 2006.Reid on Monday said that star running back Brian Westbrook will likely sit out the rest of the preseason as he recovers from the sprained left foot he suffered in the Aug. 6 preseason opener against Oakland, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer."Brian Westbrook is getting better every day," Reid said, according to the newspaper. "The swelling is out of the foot, but again, it's going to take a little bit of time. He stretched the ligaments in there a bit and sprained the foot, so we've got to wait until that heals. ? He definitely won't be ready this week and it will be a struggle for him to get back next week."Last season, Donovan McNabb suffered a chest injury in Philly's regular season opener against Atlanta. While trying to play through the initial injury, McNabb sustained a groin strain, his abdominal strain never healed and eventually his season was cut short when doctors recommended he undergo sports hernia surgery in November. The Eagles, who will likely run the ball far more often this season than they did in Brad Childress' pass-happy offense of 2005, can ill-afford to lose Westbrook, their primary rusher. Westbrook also gives McNabb a dangerous receiving outlet out of the backfield."If [Westbrook] didn't play in another preseason game, then that's the way it goes," Reid said, according to the Inquirer. "I don't want to risk any further injury on that thing. I want to make sure it's healed and healed right."</div>There goes their pre....season.
