I can't hate Westbrook any more, because I don't expect much from OKC (and because his teammates seem to be entirely in his corner). But if I did, this would be fuel to the fire. (Background: OKC were down big and Westbrook was struggling. He ended up with 51/13/10):
I loved that. The NBA is way too buddy-buddy. It's so much more fun when you pour a little hate in there.
Hmm they were down 18 and came back and won? I wonder if the young Suns might have been doing some trash talking when they were up. I would not put it past Booker. Westbrook might have been putting them in their place.
tbh id be talking all kindsa shit if i just dropped a triple double of that caliber. i dont see an issue with it, other than it sucks for Phoenix, who arent the blazers, so meh - fuck em.
fuck the suns. westbbrook has an ENORMOUS chip on his shoulder now. he is going to lose his fucking mind this year and do silly shit like this repeatedly. gonna be fun to watch!
Since 1983-84, there have been a total of 212 50-point games in the NBA. Russell Westrook has two of those. His performance last night was the second least efficient 50-point game in the 33 years of data available at basketball-reference.com. His other 50-point offer is the 7th most inefficient. Here's a list of the most inefficient 50-point games of the last 33 years: Points-Per-Shot Chris Webber (2001) 1.09 (51 points on 47 FGA) Russell Westbrook (2016) 1.16 (51 points on 44 FGA) Kobe Bryant(2016) 1.20 (60 points on 50 FGA) Kobe Bryant (2007) 1.20 (53 points on 44 FGA) Kobe Bryant (2006) 1.22 (50 points on 41 FGA) Allen Iverson (2000) 1.25 (50 points on 41 FGA) Russell Westbrook (2015) 1.26 (54 points on 43 FGA) Just for the sake of comparison, Damian Lillard also has two career 50-point games. In both of those games, Dame took 28 shots. So, Westbrook = 105 points on 87 FGA, Lillard = 101 points on 56 shots. When he scores 50+ points, Russell Westbrook misses an additional 15.5 shots per game. Westbrook's 17-44 = .386 FG% is the lowest FG% for any 50-point game since the NBA started tracking FGA 33 years ago. Going 17-44 at home, in overtime, against a lottery team playing 3 teenagers hardly seems to justify that level of chest thumping. Russell Westbrook has an opportunity for a record breaking season. He could break any, or all, of the following records: USG% (his 2014-15 season is already the second highest in history) Field Goal Attempts Field Goals Missed He could very well set the new standard for inefficient, volume scoring. BNM
here's my issue with his trash talking above. someone talks shit and you run to refs and try and get him kicked out. if you can't handle trash talk you dont get to be a dick and get away with it. now if you laugh at someone trash talking you, or go HAM on the court and talk trash back. im fine with that. but running and crying you give up your right to do it.
any of those 50pt games also triple doubles and they won? the fact were looking at a fg% of a 50pt triple double win, just to find some angle to pick at the guy is fuckin sad imo.
Yeah, it sure does suck when your company is the likes of Kobe and AI. We know you hate Westbrook, but try to be at least a tiny bit objective.
Some could attribute the lack of more/any rings for those guys to poor efficiency though. AI never won and Kobe is thought of as should have a won a couple more. His points are valid on Westbrook. He may very well have the worst efficient MVP nod ever and OKC will be lucky to get out of the first round IF they get into the playoffs. Odds are stacked against that type of play ever taking their team deep, so whats the point. Individual accolades? Is OKC okay with that? I would think not, so his play benefits no one but himself and when its all said and done, his name will be on the low end of the greats because of this large issue. If he would just learn to play within a team concept, he would go down as THE best ever, hands down...but that takes rings, and he isn't gonna get any with his style of play.
