If you're looking for the basics, let me save you some time.

Age 24. Listed as 6-6, but was measured at 6-4 with shoes at the combine. Undrafted out of VMI in '08.

Last season: 20.3mpg. 16.3pts per 36. 14.9 PER. 47.7% FG. 43.3% from the arc. 58.5% TS. Extremely low (8.3%) turnover% (Bogans was excellent at 11.3%).

Williams is a restricted free agent and GSW made a $1.06MM qualifying offer. The Warriors drafted Klay Thompson with their 1st pick (#11 overall). Thompson was probably the best SG prospect in the draft.

It sure looks like Williams is the odd man out in Golden State and that they wouldn't go very high to match a competing offer.

Net, on paper he looks like this offseason's Wesley Matthews. However, I watched exactly 2 GSW games last season (guess which) and Williams didn't exactly make me feel all kinds of "gotta have him."

If there's a MLE, it wouldn't take all of it to get Williams (leaves some for Jeff Foster, my choice for "Big Sexy's" replacement).

So, whaddya know and whaddya think?

Judging by the posts in the recent DRose thread, it seems Rose and BJ Armstrong are likely looking for someone more studly.

It's strange how little many of us (me included) actually know about players from the West, isn't it? I feel like I have a pretty good feel for most of the players in the East from watching the Bulls, the playoffs, and games of other conference teams down the stretch. The West . . . only a couple teams in which we had a vested interest like the Rockets.

So talking out of my ass: It sounds like Monte Ellis is dead man walking and will be moved as soon as there is a new CBA. That often means that a team has a viable backup that they are counting on. Golden State may be planning on matching.

I agree Denny, I think Rose and Armstrong are thinking, someone with more name recognition. More star power

He had a bad year last season. Didn't mesh well under Smart like he did with Nellie. Hes a hell of a shooter and a good scorer overall, passes pretty decently for a 2 guard. Hes not that athletic and not a very good defender. Decent rebounder for his size. He's listed at 6'6 but nowhere near there, more like 6'4 but he does have really long arms and hes not really a liability playing SF depending on the matchup.

Everyone in GS thought he'd be a great 6th man this season but it just never happened. When he starts you can pencil him in for 20+ points easily but he never clicked with the 6th man mentality.

Talking out of one's ass is fine - so long as one doesn't seek to clear one's "throat" in front of another before commencing
