I have a question would you guys like to see Charlie Ward as our backup point guard? I think he is just what the Nets need. I mean Robert Pack was a solid Net in 1996 but we are in 2004, now & he is just not getting the job done. The word in New York is that the Suns are planning to buy out some of Ward's contract then release him(similar to what we did with motumbo). Ward would be the perfect addition to the Nets. He would bring a consistent long range shot which the Nets dont have. I mean Jason Kidd & kerry kittles perimeter shot is very inconsistent. But Ward's jumper is automatic when he is given a good look. And with the Nets excellent ball movement, he should get nothing but open looks. He also would give us a legitimate backup to give kidd some much need rest. Jason Kidd is alway at the top of the league leaders in Minutes played. And this really hurts the Nets when they get deeper in the playoffs( Jason Kidd not being able to keep up with parker in the '03 finals). In Ward we would get a vetran point guard, who can run the team for long periods of time. His ability to run a team for long periods of time ,would also allow us to play a 2-point guard line which the Nets have really played before. Charlie Ward is a guy, who has played the point in all of the big games such as the playoffs & finals. And I think he would be the perfect addition to fill a much needed backup point guard role on the Nets. What do you think of Ward being added to our team? PS- This is not official, its not even a rumor just something I started thinking about when I heard the Suns planned on letting Charlie Ward go.
hhhmmm...well...he'll be a great half-court player...but that's not the play of NJ...so it can be a bad and a good thing...kinda like Johnson last season...everytime he comes in, things slow down...

And the pace is going to slow down reguardless, when Jason kidd is not in the game. So why not have a guy like Ward who can make shots in a half-court set. The pace slows down when Robert Pack is in the game, but he can hit the type of shots Ward can. And honestly we dont really know if Ward can push the tempo at the point guard slot because New York never had the type of players to push tempo in New York. That just wasnt Knicks still of play.
^ Yup...that's why I said it can be a good and bad thing...it would be nice to have a half court player who can hit down shots...at the expense of slowing down the game...
i read in an article on that he would like to play for the nets. his agent said that he wants to stay in the NY area. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...0p-134395c.html
