This really doesn't sound like a fireable remark and I doubt the most powerful woman in the United States was marginalized by it. But, whatever. A few days later, however, Athey “spoke critically of protests in favor of ‘trans kids’ at the University of North Texas” — and, as she wrote, “a group of maniacal left-wing activists who want to chemically castrate children in the name of ‘gender affirmation’ came after me.” “All of a sudden, the Kamala tweet was being re-framed as racist and dozens of Twitter accounts were bragging about contacting my employers about my ‘bigotry,'” she said.
Sounds like she might have been trying to get away with something there and it didn't work. If somehow nothing was meant, she shouldn't have posted it. If it can misconstrued don't post it.
The fact that it took a week for WMAL to fire her was kind of telling to me. Kinda like when Will Smith first laughed at Rock's joke, then.... Meanwhile, her other employer, The Spectator, pretty much laughed off her joke.
Well, when a tweet can have a double meaning, and that one is pretty easy to spot, even if you don't intend it that way, don't post it.
The most common mistake in internet discourse is posts that can be easily misconstrued. I've seen wars that meant nothing started over misunderstandings right in here. I was attacked for being a sexual pervert because of a joke I told nearly word for word from The Blues Brothers.
