We're pretty weak up front right now. What realistic centers would you go after in the off season this year or even before march 1? I like Marc Gasol a lot, he's a restricted free agent this summer, I'd love to see paul allen throw a boatload of money at him to try to steal him from Memphis.

    What else?

We have zero cap room, that means we're restricted to the BAE and MLE (roughly 2 million or 6 million per year). At best we might be able to get Joel back for the MLE for a couple of years this summer.

EDIT: assuming there is a "this summer," a lockout is looming.

Tony Battie would be nice to buyout from Philly if it all possible...rebounds and plays solid D!

I'd throw the money at Greg Oden. He has the most potential.

There's no way Joel is worth the MLE, not even for a couple years. I like the idea of throwing a toxic offer at Marc Gasol. Fuck the Grizzlies after the shit they pulled with Miles. I'd happily waste some of their money.

DeAndre Jordan too. He's about to be a restricted FA that we need to make a lot richer next year :D

If Nene is still unsigned, we should either throw a toxic offer at him or explore a S&T.

    And Greg.

Well, that eliminates a potential Ha return. :(

I guess that depends on the team's position on Oden. If they are more or less convinced he can still play then we already have Camby and LA if need be. We also might look at Joel. Maybe we should concentrate on a bruising backup instead.

with our salary the MLE would be all we could offer under the old CBA. What the new new CBA brings is anyone's guess

Joel might be worth the money, as long as the last name is Freeland.

Mr Freeland isn't worth a 10 day right now. Let's let him prove himself before we dump a MLE (or a MLE type contract) on him.

    Feeling testy this morning?

My general impression is that Freeland has been playing well this season, but I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about him. I'm sure the Blazers' scouting staff has a pretty good idea if he'd be worth a shot next year. Given our shortage of big men, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him get a chance at fall camp.

Agree, and I believe his last game in the round of 16 in Euroleague playoffs is March 3 and his team will not advance - why not? From my understanding he has a contract buyout this year and next at 500k which is very reasonable. It would let him and the Blazers get a chance to figure out if he is good enough, and he's gotta know the minutes are available.

Huh, he's being considered as a top 10 Euroleague player based upon his play this yr - WTF do you want? And is there any better way to find out then a 10-day contract?

I'd bring him over for the rest of the year and see how he does.
