What do Jazz fans think of Boozer?

Hello Jazz fans. Being a Cavs fan, you may understand that I am extremely angry about what has happened with Carlos Boozer. Now believe me I hold nothing against you Jazz fans, or Jazz ownership, since as far as we know they played fairly in this whole deal.

I was just wondering what some of you think about the tactics of Boozer (and his agent), assuming Boozer does indeed sign the offer sheet next week.

I see agents all the time trying to get the most money for clients. But I'm not sure I've ever seen a situation like this. Where Boozer and his agent (who, incidentally, is also Kobe Bryant's agent) go to our GM Paxson and our owner Gund, and say "If you respect me by not picking up the option, I'll show trust and loyalty to you by signing with you." That is what Boozer said in the meeting. He, his wife, and his agent then assured the Cavs that they would take the Cavs' MLE offer (which is the max the Cavs could give Boozer at the present time).

The Cavs don't pick up the option, then Boozer stabs us in the back. Even other GMs and agents around the league agree:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"This is the worst thing I've ever seen," a top NBA agent told me. A respected NBA team executive confirmed the opinion in a separate conversation.

"There is no honor in this," the agent said. "You don't shake a man's hand, get him to do something nice for you, and then turn around and screw him."

The executive echoed the sentiments. "That was so bad. [Boozer and his agent] convinced Cleveland to let them out, and then instead of saying thanks, they said, '(expletive) you.'"</div>

And, here's what Aaron Goodwin, LeBron James' agent had to say:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"LeBron gave his thumbs up (to the plan enabling Boozer to become a free agent) because he believed his friend just wanted to be taken care of," says Goodwin. "He thought it was great that the Cavs wanted to help him out." Goodwin says that James was "disheartened" when he realized that Boozer was exploiting his free agency by negotiating with other teams.

Goodwin adds -- and I've confirmed this with other sources -- that Gund took personal responsibility for approving the plan to make Boozer a free agent.

"My understanding is that Carlos, his wife and Pelinka all gave their words to Paxson and Gordon Gund that Boozer would re-sign with Cleveland," Goodwin says. "By letting him become a free agent, Gordon was saying, 'I'm doing this to help the Boozer family, not just Carlos.'

"Gordon Gund isn't stupid. He knew there was a chance Boozer would leave if he let him out of his $700,000 contract. But he was [telling] the kid 'I respect you and I care about you and your family.' For him to get slapped in the face is wrong; even as an agent I have to say it's wrong. I talk to Gordon and I hear the devastation in his voice because he's from the old school, where if someone says something to you, you take him at his word.</div>

So what do you all think? I'm sure you're excited to be adding some key pieces to your team, but I think this is one of the lowest things I've ever seen in sports.

Additionally, do any of you think the Jazz's offer to Boozer was too high?

What Boozer did showed no respect for the Cavs organisation, he stabbed them in the back. They were doing him a favour, he had stated he was enjoying life in Cleveland and it looked like he would remain there. The Cavs trusted that he would live up to his word, and that trust will really hurt the Cavs for years to come. Boozer will be remembered for lying and only being interested in the big bucks and not caring about any verbal agreements that were made. This isn't a way anyone would like to be remembered.
If you look at it from Boozer's point of view, he did it mainly for the money. Next season, the Jazz should be a better team than the Cavs and that could be another reason. Who has the better future of the teams is debateable, but he did indeed walk away from Lebron James. He may want to improve himself by playing PF in the west. He may of just wanted to join a winning team. All of these reasons could of contributed to his decision, but the biggest reason is by far the money.
It was low, full of greed and distrust on Boozer's behalf. For Boozer, money talks. It looks as if money means so much to him that he would stab his current team in the back, and leave them. People will remember this throughout his career, and if he does go onto have a successful career, it will greatly hurt his image.
However, this greatly benefits the Jazz, and I don't think the offer was to high. They had to offer him lots to get him in Utah and offer him enough so that Cleveland would have a hard time matching which they have done.

I wasn't a Boozer or Cavs fan before but I can care less. But still, I feel for the Cavs. The truly agreed, including LeBron as you quoted, because he gave the thumbs, that Boozer stabbed them in the back. It shows no class of an NBA Player. The Cavs were doing him a favour and he takes complete control of the favour, and can't even give a favour back, by playing for them (the Cavs). I won't be at the home Cavs-Utah game next year, but I hope he gets booed when he comes back.

Boozer used to be one of my favorite players until this happened. I have no respect left for the guy, as if going back on your word isnt enough he did it all just for the $$$. Boozer wont get as many all star votes as he would of if he stayed in cleveland. Awesome pick up for the Jazz though. I still like Boozer but I dont respect him, If there were other reasons like he really needed the money because he was gonna call bankruptsy then I would still respect him doing whats right for his family, but he did it out of greed.

If he signs the offer sheet, there is no doubt he will be severely booed and taunted every time he returns to Cleveland for the rest of his career. The fans here will really hold a grudge when someone gives them a good reason. I mean, fans here boo Ricky Davis, and Boozer is doing something much worse than anything Ricky ever did. If Boozer ends up not signing the offer sheet on Wednesday (slim chance I know, but still, a chance), then I know almost all Cleveland fans will welcome him back despite him putting us through this. But if he does sign, he is going to end up enemy #1 in Cleveland. I really feel that a betrayal this severe would make him second only to perhaps Art Modell, among the enemies of Cleveland sports fans.

All I can really say is that I hope he and his agent realize how despicable this is and change their minds by Wednesday. If so, I can forgive Booz for a lapse of judgment. Otherwise, no way do I want Cleveland to even try to match the offer.

I like the way Boozer plays and I am glad that it looks like he will be playing with the Jazz. But on the other hand, I don't like what he did to Cleveland if what all is saying has been true. The one thing I think sports is missing now is loyality, weither its loyality to the coach, the team, the city, or even to the management. So I'm kinda torn, Lebron and Boozer would of made a great combo for years to come, lets just hope that the Kirilenko-Boozer Combo will be great.
