I think he has played better than I expected him at times, and other times played exactly how I expected him. He had some huge summer league games that gave me confidence in him and that big game in the beginning of the season. Other than that I have have been disappointed. I liked him when they played Utah on national television when he was passing well, then cutting to the hoop and getting some nice layups. He is only in his second year so I will give him a little slack. I would like to see Mussleman start Cardinal over Dunleavy and let him build a little bit more confidence against other teams 2nd string players. I would also like to see him play with more confidence, but within his game which is helping with the ball handling duties, hitting cutting players with some nice passes, cutting himself, and the occasional open 3 pointer. Then I would like to see him bulk up some more in the off season and work on a low post game. I think by his 4th or 5th year, he COULD be a Peja type of player when Peja was in his 3rd year. I would give Dunleavy a 2 out of 5. 1 being scrub, 5 being MVP candidate.

    I would give him a 2.8.[IMG]

He has really developed in his second year here with the Warriors. Remember that this is kinda like his rookie season, he hardly even played last season. I love his overall game, he can do so much to help this team win and he makes others around him better. I think people may have been expecting a little too much from this kid too soon. If we give him the time to develope, I believe he can be a great player in this league. He already has all the tools.

Out of 10, for me actually 3 to 3.5, he has been playing as well I think he's capable of. From what you've all told me, not as well as who he replaced, Troy Murphy. Still the reason I ranked him as high as I did, is the fact I really like him, his game, his mentality, but above all his personality. He's a good kid, he's just simply overwhelmed afterall he is under a lot of pressure being in the NBA and all. All in all I think he's been providing well enough for you guys.

He is a little better than 3/10. And he hasn't been playing up to his capability, even he would admit that. At times he has. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">From what you've all told me, not as well as who he replaced, Troy Murphy.</div> He didn't replace Troy Murphy, he replaced Jamison. Troy Murphy is a power foward.

I wish Dunleavy could have a defensive game like Kirilenko where he blocks all those shots.

He is a complete player though and once he learns how to move his feet on D and get a body, he'll be a true complete player.

That's why Dunleavy better live up to his hype on being a good shooter. I was laughing at all the comparisons to Dirk, Peja, or even Larry Bird. Oh lord! It must have been a really weak draft that year. But I give credit to Dunleavy now as he has been ultra efficient with his production. Good shot selection, good passing, good anticipation. I think he gets the bad end of the whistle too many times though and I think its because the refs don't give him respect.

P.S.: Remember that time Chris Anderson jumped backwards on Dunleavy's back while Dunleavy was facing away from him? They called the foul on Dunleavy! OMG! Chris Anderson has to be the most out of control player in the NBA and you call the foul on Dunleavy because you only saw Anderson hurt himself? Get your head checked ref.

He is a long term project like Kwame Brown. Who would have guessed Boozer would be the best duke player out of that draft.

He (kwame brown) could be a Jermaine O'neil type player if he picks up his defense, he's got no problem with scoring. He's just got those Powerpuff girl nubbins for hands.

Very true... no one guessed it, which was why boozer slipped all the way to the second round.

Honestly, when Dunleavey was drafted, I was so mad. I thought Drew Gooden was a much better player. I was pissed that the warriors took Dunleavey over Gooden. But now, come to think about it, Dunleavey is really surprising me. He's a pretty decent shooter, who does his best on defense. He really does do what coaches tell him to do. I think he's a very coachable player, and will develop into a very decent player. As of right now, giving him such low ratings isn't really fair. He's injured. Prior to his injury, he wasn't doing that bad. I would give him a passing grade:

    6.1 out of 10.

He is a pretty consistant outside shooter; he drives hard; he rebounds; he's a pretty good passer... I think that all adds up to a pretty complete player. Sure, he's not quiet there yet. We all know that. But, I think he's really a decent player with above average potentials.

Dunleavy is going to be fine. We've just got to give him some time to develop. He only played 2 years (? maybe 3) at Duke. I got to see him a couple of weeks ago when the Warriors beat the T'Wolves at home even though Garnett went for 20/20/10. When he's aggressive, he shows the form that could make him a dominant player. I saw him shoot a pull up 3 and just swish it, then saw him play point forward, bring in down, rub off the screen and swish the elbow jumper. He's just too passive right now and sometimes he's just not in the flow. Maybe he can develop a chemistry with Claxton and get fed the ball at the right time. We cannot give up on him too fast.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFuller:</div><div class="quote_post">has a high basketball knowledge iq!</div>No way. This guy knows the game of basketball VERY well. There are not much players out of Duke that don't. He was well coached and grew up with an NBA coach as a father. This guy has great knowledge for the game but just needs time to develope into the player we all know he can become.

Rudeezy, you and fuller seem to be agreeing that Dunleavy is a smart player when it comes to basketball, right?

I think he's a smart player too. He just needs to play within himself and not force things. But I got my wish that Cardinal start over Dunleavy so its all good for me if he comes off the bench for a while.

I'm guessing theFuller is a reference to 1996 11th overall draft pick Todd Fuller.

The same draft year as Kobe Bryant, Peja Stojakovic, Steve Nash, Jermaine O'Neil, Illgauskas. Who was the GM at the time? Dave Tard-zik
