In my opinion pierce is a great player and is underated. People dont like him because of his attitude but instead of lookin at that negative , we should look at the posotive and realize that this guy is a great ball player and has taken us to the playoffs practilly every year. Also im sick of people hating on him after evrything he has done for our team.
Pierce isn't a leader, he doesn't fit that mold, end of story. That's the role he needs to play to live up to the expectations set for him early on in his NBA career in Boston. He's simply not going to, they're unrealistic hopes. Pierce has fallen from him previous postion as a top shooting guard amongst the NBA. I personally wouldn't rank Pierce in The Top 5, perhaps not even the Top 10 in some perspective's. Players like Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen, and Allen Iverson would all be placed ahead of Paul Pierce in my opinion. Pierce needs that other superstar to thrive off of, Antoine Walker makes Pierce a much better basketball player. Don't believe me? Just look at his statistics when Walker was gone. In 2003-2004 Pierce shot a career liow 40.2% from the field, career low 29.9% from 3-Point, and a career high 3.79 Turnovers Per Game. Another knock on Paul is his playoff performances, a high volume 20 Point scoring threat. Don't believe me again? He has a Career 40.9 Field Goal Percentage in 37 Playoff Games and averages 4.03 Turnovers Per Game in The Post Season. He hasn't shown the ability to lead the team on or off the floor. He becomes VERY selfish in the clutch. His shot selection can become very questionable in late game situations. His ability to make teammates better is an issue as well. He's a nice player, he's not a great player. He's a Number 2 guy, Not a franchise Player, END OF STORY.

[quote name='King James X3']Pierce isn't a leader, he doesn't fit that mold, end of story. Pierce needs that other superstar to thrive off of Pierce isnt a leader? and needs walker to play good? How about we look at game 4 of this years playoffs when antoine was suspended and didnt play then pierce simply took over with 30 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Pierce LED them to victory by himself and proved that he is a leader.

He's just not a good vocal leader, and his actions don't qualify as "leading by example", either. It's a very delicate situation when your best player acts like Pierce does. Especially when the majority of the players are younger than him and look to him for guidance. That's why I don't think Pierce is good player for the Celtics. In no way am I taking away from his ability to play the game, because I think he can be great for another team.

Who jumpstarted The Celtics midseason and put them on track to get into the playoffs in the first place? Not Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker did. It's really simple, when Walker is around Paul Pierce isn't asked to do nearly as much, which in most cases is a good thing. Antoine distributes the ball. Antoine can handle the ball in late game situation. Antoine can set the team in their offense. Antoine becomes their leader from a vocal stand point. What happens when Antoine is around? Paul Pierce's shooting percentages jumps, because Antoine allows him to focus just on the scoring and not the responsibility of leading a franchise liked he was asked in 2003-2004 and early in 2004-2005 because it failed and that's plain to see. Once again, Paul Pierce is a Number 2 guy at best. Your painting this picture as if he's Kobe Bryant twin brother, or the second coming of Michael Jordan. It's just simply not a reality my man. Paul Pierce's best days in a Celtics uniform are when Antoine Walker is playing alongside him, simple as that, the proof is in the putting.

So anyways ima ask you a question.. You would rather have walker on your team then pierce?
Simply put, No. Antoine Walker is however a better leader than Paul Pierce on this Boston Celtics Roster.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James X3:</div><div class="quote_post">Simply put, No. Antoine Walker is however a better leader than Paul Pierce on this Boston Celtics Roster.</div> HAHA! Antoine Walker a better leader. That's a good joke. Walker doesn't do anything but shoot 30 three pointers a game. Pierce is that teams leader. He may not eb the best leader but they have noone else to turn to, and he answers the call everynight to be the teams leader.
I mean i just look at like this when i compare walkers leadership to pierce leadership: Walker is a leader of a team(hawks) yup he led them to a good what 2 wins or sumtin when he wuz wit em Pierce wit da celtics before walker came got like 22 wins. That says it all

Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I can't stand Walker, but he is a leader. Walker is a vocal leader, he knows how to keep the team focused and can get them amped up whenever he needs to. His situation with Atlanta can't be compared to that of Pierce's in Boston. You need talent around you to win. Pierce is neither. His actions of late have done all but prove that he can't be counted on to set a good example for our younger players. If you watch the games, you'll see that he seems to have serious attitude issues. Whether he actually does or not is almost irrelevent because that's the way he comes off, and when your roster is chock full o'young talent, you don't want the team's leader coming across as a miserable and arrogant whiner.
True.. yes Antoine is a better vocal leader , and pierce isnt that good of a leader because of his attitude. So ya I understand what your saying.
i noticed as the years past pierce has became less and less good. i dunno wat it is. year ny year somethin about him has decreased. hes an amazin player but no where near VC Lebron or Kobe. that just how it is
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James X3:</div><div class="quote_post">The Truth has been told, I'm glad you understand now.</div> wtf i just said that i understand walkers a better vocal leader and pierce sometimes makes bad leader decisions but I knew that before ..so how is that gettin told?.. In responce to nbaballer.. In my opinion the only difference about VC, Kobe is that pierce isnt gonna cross you over and with unbelieve quickness dunk in between the legs over some guy. But other then that i tink there quite similiar.
paul is my boy but sooner or later the celts will/need to trade him. yes he did lead us to a game 4 victory but where was he in game 7? you dont lose game 7s at home. as a so called leader you should not allow it to happen. when you are the face of a franchise, you are the leader whether you like it or not. remember fellas this is the same cat that almost cost us the series but throwing that elbow on Tinsley in Game 6. Dont get me wrong it was an acting job on the part of Tinsley but PP has to be the better man and avoid those situations. antoine is clearly the vocal leader leader on this squad he takes a lot of heat off of paul. antoine does throw up many threes but the fact remains that he always accepts blame and takes all the criticism when things go wrong. pp does not handle criticism well as eveident of his constant bickering with Doc. PP has always acted like a baby even when he was at kansas. PP needs to stop getting his panties in a bunch and play ball.
