What do you think of sending Spree "home"? Could you take a step back to go fwd? Spree's career could run full circle Golden State trades: SG Mickael Pietrus (5.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.1 minutes) C Adonal Foyle (3.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 13.0 minutes) C Erick Dampier (12.3 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 32.5 minutes) Golden State receives: SG Latrell Sprewell (16.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.5 apg in 37.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: -3.9 ppg, -14.3 rpg, and +1.8 apg. Minnesota trades: SG Latrell Sprewell (16.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.5 apg in 37.8 minutes) Minnesota receives: SG Mickael Pietrus (5.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 53 games) C Adonal Foyle (3.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 44 games) C Erick Dampier (12.3 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 74 games) Change in team outlook: +3.9 ppg, +14.3 rpg, and -1.8 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Golden State and Minnesota being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Golden State and Minnesota had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Throw Kandi in or something. Not a request, but a question.
I would like that trade because Dampier gives us a needed strong post presence and Foyle would also help at the center position. Pietrus has potential to be a good player in the league. But I don't think that the Warriors would accept this trade even if we added Olowokandi. Spree is getting older. He won't be able to keep playing like this for long. The chance of this trade happening is small. It wouldn't help the Warriors. The Wolves would like this trade but not the Warriors. The Wolves would benefit the most from this trade.
You would def have to give up kandi for this deal to even seem close to coimng true. I doubt G-State gives up 2 bigbody with alot of upside. And a guard that is athletic also with alot of upside for an aging spree. Plus why wouldnt the wolves, if they are taking on Dampier(8-10 mill per year is what he wants) in a sign & trade, want to give Kandiman's over paid contract in the deal? No need to have two overpaid centers on the roster. Like Linkin said even with Kandi thrown in the deal I doubt they does this with the parts the warriors are offering they can get more on the trade market. As far a the wolves go tho. They would be gaining much need size. But the wolves dont have alot of players that can make plays. They have alot of people who can shoot, but they dont have a lot of people that can make plays & create shots for other people. Spree, Cassell, KG are the only players on the team that can really create shots for other people, so losing spree without getting another playmaker in return may cost the wolves in the long run.
The long-run is next year. If we lose Spree we could lose our chance at a chmpionship next year. There aren't many players that would replace Spree for us well. The Wolves have some older players, and their championship goals are going to be coming into view next year or they wont come at al. The Wolves don't have a long-term plan in effect, thye have a win-now plan going on with Spree,KG and Sammy. Cassel and Spree are older players, they arent guys that we can look at in a long-term. If we get rid of Spree we could be in bad shape.

At mid-season, I loved Dampier but I did some checking & it seems that Dampier's 2 best years were contract years. He's been very mortal in the other years. Furthermore, why trade for Foyle when we can sign him as a FA??? In short, this trade makes no sense, especially when you consider that Spree was our playoff MVP. When the playoffs start, I know that I can count on Spree to be extra-special. As for Foyle & Dampier & Pietrus, none have played a playoff game. The goal is winning it all & you can't give up a great playoff performer for 3 question marks.
