This is purely on an entertainment standpoint, so you don't have to throw in the home team (unless you actually think they'd make a compelling matchup). Personally, I'd like to watch Chicago face Dallas in the finals. They're both athletic teams that can run, but are strong defensively. They have some young stars. And both coaches are micro-managers, so you'd see a lot of interesting adjustments.
Houston vs. Miami Yao-Shaq Hayes-Haslem Battier-Walker MAC-Wade Alston-Williams Head/Snyder/Howard - Jones/Posey/Kapono ------------- Lakers vs. Miami/Cleveland Shaq vs. Kobe ------------ Phoenix vs. Miami/Toronto...even Chicago Any of those would be okay in my book.
Orlando Magic vs. Golden State Warriors Realistically, I'd like the Heat vs. the Suns. That would be an exciting series.

Dallas vs Phoenix I know it can't happen, but let's face it, that's the marquee matchup we all want to see. If they meet in the West Finals, it'll be like when the 49ers and Cowboys met in the NFC Championship and everybody tuned into it because it was the real Superbowl. Or in 1980 when the US beat the Soviet Union in Olympic Hockey, that was only the semi-finals, the US still had to go on and beat Finland, but who cared? If I have to pick a team from the West and LEast, I suppose it'd be... Phoenix vs New Jersey At least when I watch the Nets it doesn't remind me of paint drying, plus they had that great 2 OT game earlier in the season. I won't sit through 10 minutes of a Spurs/Pistons game, sorry but for me it's like watching Nascar all season then sitting through lawnmower racing.
Just so you guys know, there is going to be a finals match up no one saw coming. Its going to be Denver against Detroit. And Denver will win the finals in 7 games.
My dream series is and always will be the Lakers vs. Bulls. I'd love to see that matchup, specifically because I love both teams. Beyond that, you'd have PJax coaching against the team he won 6 titles with, seeing how Kobe performs when he's main attraction, seeing how a young Bulls team plays, etc. I think it'd be great, at least for me. Realistically speaking, I actually think the Bulls will make it and will end up playing the Mavs or the Spurs. Both the Mavs and Spurs are far too good of teams to allow those game one upsets to haunt them, and I full expect both of them to bounce back.
Rockets vs Nets. T-Mac vs Carter. How weird would that be watching 2 cousins competeing against eachother for a title.

<div class="quote_poster">Clear It Out Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Wow, talk about the most unlikely Finals matchup.</div> maybe for the nets.. The Rockets arent an unlikely pick..
I don't find very many Eastern teams very exciting, so Miami and Detroit are my main picks for the East. Phoenix vs. Detroit Phoenix/Spurs/Dallas/Rockets/Lakers/ vs. Miami Golden State/Lakers/Nuggets vs. Toronto (Toronto might win the 'ship lol) Edit: forgot about Chicago Spurs/Dallas/Phoenix vs. Chicago
I'd like to see the Cavaliers in the Finals, as they are a good team to watch because they have all the parts to a good team. It also helps that they're my favourite team. I would probably like to see them against the Suns or Mavs, as they are the two best teams in the West, and the Suns are the best team to watch due to their movement.

They either throw it in the post to Gooden or Ilgauskas or one guy stands on the perimeter with the ball while everyone looks at him. Mike Brown is a horrible coach. He's not utilizing LeBron's open-court skills. He has to use this boring Pacers-style offense. I hope Mike Brown is replaced soon. The Cavs offense is disgusting.
Raptors vs. Phoenix... Colangelo, Canadian connection in Steve Nash. Both exciting shoot em up teams.
The Raptors getting out of the first round is a long shot. But an NBA Finals in Canada would certainly bring some new fans in. I think it'd be great for the league. It'd be a sweep but an entertaining one at least.
Chicago VS Dallas would probably be the most exciting for me personally Love watching the bulls and Dallas is always exciting.
