Yep I think he retired due to an injury.

I`d say he could back and play it out for like 1-2 years. What was the exact reason he retired again?

He had an ankle tendon that was frayed and needed replacing and this meant at least one year recovery. Even then he wouldn't have the lateral movement and without that his role as a defensive stopper would be lost with his career.

Don't forget, his absence led to the signing of Adrian Griffin. So in a way, Christie helped us get to the finals, didn't he?

isnt christie better than adrian? christie is a great defender and i think if you all still had him on your team, you would have a much easier time in the finals

Christie was better than Grif but Grif's success this year is a testament, one of many, to the Coach of the Year. On the other hand, I am still wondering how
Christie got over 1.5 million with a known injury. I should look it up. I am sure it must have been guaranteed money at the player's option. Otherwise, some physician must have lost his gig with the Mavericks and some insurance company which covered Christie's salary must be unhappy.

He came to Dallas and actually started all of the games, but when Doug went to get surgery down in Miami, Dallas called him and released him.
