The AI deal doesn't go through? We have a major logjam at pg. What do we do. We'll have to trade one of them, and i don't think Danny wants to get rid of Telfair, and supposedly he is in love with Rondo. We had a nice run together Delonte, I'm gonna miss you.THAT IS unless Delonte becomes a full-time SG. Then it's either Wally or TA out of town.

I say trade Wally. I truely believe West would thrive as an off guard and possibly as the second option. TRADE WALLY!

I also think Delonte would play well as a 2, but he is undersized and would get murdered trying to guard guys like Kobe, T-Mac, Hughes, Joe Johnson, etc. I think he would thrive offensively, but it would hurt us defensively unless the other team is playing small. Like for instance, playing SG vs. Phoenix would be awesome, but when we play some other teams with bigger and more athletic 2-guards than Delonte - it would cause problems, even though Delonte is tough.

Also guys, do not count out Gerald Green getting traded, as much as I would dislike it, it's a big possibility as well. I have read that Philly will only do the Iverson deal if Gerald is involved. But on topic, even if we didn't do the Iverson deal, it's going to be hard to trade Wally's contract for a sufficient contributor. What would you want in return? A big man? Well that causes minutes problems as well when we are talking about Big Al, Gomes, Ratliff, and Perk. I think Al/Gomes will/should split minutes next year, and same goes for Ratliff/Perk.

But also look at it from this standpoint - Delonte is going to see some minutes at the 2 regardless of a Wally/TA/Gerald trade, and Danny even said that on TV that "we will see one of our newly acquired guards on the floor with Delonte at times." And also - Is Rajon Rondo really ready for big minutes? I think he could be a project, really. I mean maybe I'm wrong. I think he has talent and I think he will become a good player, but is he ready to take on 15-20 minutes per game if we did trade a wing? And again, what would we trade Wally for?

All I can say is that I am anxious to see what Danny has in store for the rest of the summer, because frankly, I see anybody on this roster except Paul Pierce being in a possible trade package. But my thoughts, this team would be better off in the longrun if we just basically stand pat with this roster and build from here. We have 3 good guards now who can all push the ball and be very effective in their own unique ways, we have 2 All-Star wings plus a possible future All-Star wing (Gerald) plus a good defending wing (TA), we have a strong center rotation in Perk/Ratliff, plus two good young PF's with promise. To be honest, I really really like this team we have right now. And I didn't even mention the potential of Powe, plus a possible future role playing big in Jones.

We have all the pieces necessary to make a deal for a good player alongside Pierce, but is it really worth it in the longrun? Will Allen Iverson make us a contender? As much as I would love to be all for it, I question that, and I really don't know if Iverson really makes us a valid championship contender. It would make us a better team within these next 3-4 years, sure, but what about after that when AI is 35, Gerald is 24 and lighting it up? What about when Pierce is 32, Big Al is 25, and he's a double-double kind of guy? Then what? We feed off Delonte West, Ryan Gomes, and an aging Pierce/AI?

    Possibly 2001 all over again.

I think if we were to trade Wally it would be for cap relief and/or a Center. We can't depend on Ratliff to be healthy. He will probably miss atleast 40 games next yeear, if we're lucky. I would like trading Wally for a solid Center and an expiring contract if we could, but i'm not sure where we could go with it. Random thought -- Does anyone know if Odom is still interested in leaving LA? I heard this, not sure if it's true. If so, i think we should make a run for him.

Considering the recent death of his baby, I think him getting traded and having to move across the country isn't the best thing for Lamar right now. But, I would love him on this team, he's a complete and versatile player who is a good guy.

Trade Wally for anything really. Any team that will take him. I am still in love with my Wally to Den for Patterson and a filler. Basically if we trade him we need a backup 3 or 5. A young solid backup who is comfortable with that role. The Hawks need a shooter, Wally straight up for Childress I don't care(purely an example of how I am over having Wally on this team). I am completely sold on the youth movement and building around Pierce with these young guys and solid vets like Ratlif. The thing that is great about the C's putting West at the 2 is Allen can lock down the teams best perimeter player, obviously not the whole game but in streaches through wise coaching.Telfair/RandoWest/AllenPierce/GreenGomes/JeffersonPerk/RatlifThis team will not win now so they can add pieces through the through the draft and FA. Off topic but will Grant ever wear Green and White?

^If we can't find any other good bigs via FA or undrafted guys, i think he'll stay. He'll be like Kandi man was this year for us.But i don't really agree about trading Wally for anyone. He's still a good guy to have around. He'll be one of the only vet presences on the team.

I don't know about Grant, but if he does, he can play like 5 minutes a game and give us some toughness and rebounding ability (even though he is old). I have always liked Brian Grant, great toughness, strong, excellent rebounder, good guy. I mean it wouldn't really effect much on the court if he did play for us, but he could be a great veteran teacher for Big Al/Perk/Gomes. Put Grant alongside Ratliff helping out the young guys, I think we could really benefit from that.
